Wow, this is great. I was just thinking about Neil (who's name I could
not remember) the other day -- you know, "Whatever happended to what's-
his-name?" I was an MIU student back in the 80s and was at the DC
College of Natural Law when Purusha was there. We (students interning
at various govt. agencies) worked a lot with the Purusha guys. Neil was
one of the nicer, more down-to-earth Purushniks (as we called them).
Glad to see that he is awakened and enjoying a good life. Good for him!

No problem. My aunt grew these beautiful blue-ish purple-ish cabbages
on her farm. From a child's perspective, they looked like giant roses.

I didn't say I was grossed out by it. I was curious as to why men
spit.

PMS - Does that stand for Peevish Male Syndrome? :-)

My grandfather, father, and countless uncles were the salt of the
earth. Farmers, truck drivers, laborers, factory workers. I have a
GREAT deal of love and respect for them. Growing up, I was no
stranger to back-breaking manual labor on the farm and, for awhile,
in a factory. It gave me a very strong work ethic. Then I learned TM.
Then I became the first woman in my family (mother's and father's
sides of the family included) to go to college. My parents (neither
of whom graduated from high school) were against it. I persevered. So
now I sit in an air conditioned office and work at a job I absolutely
love. A few years ago I stripped, sanded and refinished my hardwood
floors. By myself. I still think of myself as blue collar "salt of
the earth".

Re: your comment about my giving birth: no children this lifetime.

Too bad you have such a sorry opinion of women. We're really not such
a bad lot. :-)

[FairfieldLife] Why do men spit?

2006-07-18 Thread bluecabbagerose
Okay, I know this is totally off-topic, but I really want to understand
this:

Why do men spit?

I am sitting here in my office in beautiful little Fairfield. I take my
eyes off my monitor, look out the window, and see a sidha/gov. fellow
exit the sthapatya veda building next door, turn his head and spit.

I see this a lot. This guy obviously does not have a wad of chewing
tobacco in his mouth. He just spits. I never see women spit.

So why do men spit?

Any of you guys care to offer some insight into this seemingly gender-
specific behavior?

This says it all:

"their Excellencies"
"General Secretary"
"Prime Minister"

Are these guys playing house? Reminds me of when I was a kid: "You be

Bobby can be the Knight. We'll let Mary be Queen. And Trixie (the

This made me laugh and reminded me of an experience I had here in FF
back in '97.

I attended a Vedic ceremony at the site of what was to be the
international headquarters of USA Global Link. Chris Hartnett
purchased a big piece of land out in the center of one of the
mandalas. (First left after you turn right off of airport road.) This
piece of land is directly in front of the headquarters of the Global
Country of World Peace mansion that was originally purchased for King
Tony (remember that fundraising campaign?).

A contractor with a large backhoe dug a VERY DEEP hole into the mud.
A tall ladder was placed down into the hole so that Holland Taylor
and Larry Chroman could crawl down into the earth and place some gold-
painted bricks symbolizing something (I do not remember what) into
the hole. A puja was performed in the back of Doug Greenfield's SUV
and other items (no humans, ha, ha) were thrown into the hole. After
the ceremony, the ladder was removed and the hole was filled in. Then
we all enjoyed cookies and juice. You can still see where the
foundation of the USA Global Link building sits, surrounded by weeds
and an orange fence.

[FairfieldLife] Need a Fairfield Jyotish recommendation

2006-01-04 Thread bluecabbagerose
Can someone recommend a good, experienced FF jyotish person to do a
chart for me here in FF? I'm normally very decisive when it comes to
making decisions, however I am not sure what road to take regarding an
opportunity that has recently presented itself to me. I thought that
having my chart done could spread some light on the situation.

Thanks!

Why is MDG so afraid and intimidated by this "self delusioned guy who

Personally, I'm rooting for Mike.

I thought Rick answered it perfectly in another post. Why NOT talk
about it? It is a painful life experience a number of women have
experienced. Why should they keep quiet about it? Why continue to
protect the perpetrator by remaining silent? Being able to talk about
a painful experience, especially after having kept it secret for many
years, is a very common way to begin the healing process. Ever hear
of the term, "Get something off my chest"? There are a few lines I
often repeat to myself when I think of the dear friends I
have "unloaded" on over the years:

"Joys when extended will always increase,
And griefs when divided are hushed into peace."

Talking about painful experiences is an incredibly great way to heal
them.

If you want to resort to name calling -- "tired little rumormongers
with small gossip filled lives" -- so be it.

Like you said, it is nothing of consequence any more. What happened
is what happened. I just pointed out that anything is possible (a
line I learned from MMY) -- which is not a prejudiced statement.
Since we weren't there and did not experience it, we cannot know what
happened.

To me, this has little to do with what Mia thought MMY was trying to
do and more to do with what MMY intentions were.

Was it just going to be an affectionate embrace? Very possible.

Was MMY about to put the moves on her? Very possible.

I wonder if there are any accounts of men being embraced by MMY after
they've finished meditating with him? Anyone here have such an
experience or maybe witnessed this happening? Just curious.

So he said he didn't want to teach meditation. So he changed his
mind. What's the big deal? People change their minds about lots of
Major Life Event decisions they've made.

People marry and divorce and declare that they will never marry
again. And then they go and get married. Again. And sometimes again.

Men go on Purusha declaring that they want to be life celibates and a
year (or 10) later, they get married.

Politicians are infamous for saying they have no further political
ambitions and then they go and throw their hats in the ring in a
presidential race.

And I am sure that MMY has changed his mind a few times over the past
30-40 years.

Flexibility (change) is a GOOD thing.

Are you referring to Cynthia Preston who recently came out with a book
on crochet? Too Cute Crochet -- for Babies and Toddlers.

She is a MUM grad, married to artist John Preston. They live on a farm
south of Fairfield. She is a very nice woman who, if I remember
correctly, worked as a gourmet cook at Surya Financial way back in the
80s. She is a talented, creative, gracious woman.

Okay then. So are you saying that "higher states of consciousness" have
nothing to do with "enlightenment"?

What's the relationship between higher states of consciouness and
enlightenment? I really need to know!
