[FairfieldLife] RE: Adaptive pitch test!
Relative pitch-sensitivity might be like relative moral behavior is in the illumined as we see it. Relative pitch-sensitivity is probably not significantly related to the Ved in the Physiology like a philosophy of ethics might be hoped for in the illumined either. Like grasping at straws. -Buck cardemaister writes: May I propose a cordial contest: Adaptive pitch (AP), those who still do TM vs. those who don't anymore or never have? Well, obviously there is no correlation between spiritual enlightenment and pitch-sensitivity. Listen to Maharishi sing the puja. He was simply tone deaf. No wonder he was not a bhajan singing kind of saint. Ours likely would have been an entirely different spiritual regeneration movement had he also led singing. Quite evidently though living as experiencing the totality of the Unified Field in the human physiology is something independent of pitch-sensitivity. -Buck

Many Indians sing the Poja that way, I suppose they are all "tone deaf" ;-)

About the same time when I learned TM, bought a Japanese Strat-copy, which learned to tune by listening to the interference beat. I guess that's improved my "ears" quite a lot... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_%28acoustics%29#Binaural_beats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_%28acoustics%29#Binaural_beats

0,688 is exceptional :-) I did 1,25 which is still very good :-)

May I propose a cordial contest: Adaptive pitch (AP), those who still do TM vs. those who don't anymore or never have? My result for AP was 0,685 Hz...

Whoa! Thot it was the other way round: How well can you distinguish subtle differences in rhythm? This test will play a series of two rhythmical phrases and ask you if they are the same or different. Unlike the similar tonedeaf test, however, the differences between the phrases are only rhythmical. Recent research has emerged suggesting that rhythm perception and pitch perception deficits may be linked. I thought it would be interesting to make a test that would give an objective measure of rhythm perception. There is also a large degree of "rhythm memory" that is also incidentally tested. It is far easier to remember melodies than it is rhythms: give this test a try, you will quickly see how difficult it is! At the end of the test, you can compare your performance to that of over 7,000 subjects who had previously submitted their scores. You will need Flash for this test. Please be patient, as it may take a few minutes
