I always thought that similar to how a tie is really a symbol of the penis, removed like osiris' and then returned to the owner in a sublimated form, thus showing that it is no more a threat, so also a crown is like the hardened cock which (especially on the uncircumcized) on a man looks like a penis head during erection. Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: Guru Purnima Invitation
it was very much because my TM-Teacher was radiating love and compassion. And that is what Amma do. The world is full of intellectual discussions and analysis and science. But I think that Amma fills a need for just simplicity and love. I hope I will meet her some day.Ingegerd-well I stopped thinking about the Movement as anything other than a symbol of potential, a vision of possibilities, a premature voyage into what could be, based on good principles, essentially (meditation bringing peace, and what it could look like). I went to the Pacific Palisades TM center when I was fifteen for the free intro lecture. My intro lecturer was Louis Weiss who now has been on Purusha for 25 years, at least. (I recently reconnected with him and he is a great and heartfelt person) I stepped into the center and I felt the silence. It wrapped around me and I felt that I was being purified just sitting there. I had had plenty of experience around psychics and other spiritualists due to my sister owning a store which had psychics and spritual lecturers, and so I was like, this is it! The intro lecture rolled on and I didn't really hear a word or care what was said, I was into the energy. As it was, I had tripped on acid and smoked weed a few days before and they made me wait two weeks to learn. I learned from the teachers in Northridge. The couple had two daughters, were nice homemakers, and were very very aware. The teacher had seen the devas and wasn't afraid of talking about esoteric things with me. It was very healing for my tortured young punk rocker mind. The Pac Pal center was run by the Brittinghams, and the Verrels were always there. The Wallaces were also living there, and I used to go on residence courses every month. It got to where I didn't have to fill out the forms. I would just call and then show up. I decided to go to MIU. MIU made me wait a year because I had used acid. So I worked on staff at Pac Pal for a few days every so often. It was fun. We were all idealistic. I used to laugh my head off doing stupid things like getting in huge pillow fights changing the flying hall room sheets and stuff. It was fun. Lots of heart. Once in a while I would watch TV with the Wallaces. It felt like an honor because I was very self effacing, that is, because I had bad tripped on acid I thought I was possessed by Satan, and it was taking me a long time to get over it, and to be honest I was full of fears and insecurities. There was a group of about 5 people who used to car pool to Charlie's on Friday nights and then we would eat at the deli across the street. They were ultra cool people. The woman and the son kept records of their TM experiences. Having studied all the shit Charlie regularly sppouted I was always less than impressed by him, but I liked the group meds. The Movement was a place a young, confused punk rocker could go to to get support and to heal. Now? Not for me to say... Gotta go to werk. I think it is some Ego built in that Raja-thing. When a re-certified TM-Teacher says that it is his largest desire to be a Raja, he looks about the Raja-thing to be on the top of the TMO - the top on the World. Power and control - real Maya. He is not humble. He did not say - my largest desire is to give the knowledge to as many as possible. I have never met Amma - but I have ordered some products from her organisation - and what I feel is that she is a real Guru with a big Heart. When I learned TM (1962) - it was very much because my TM- Teacher was radiating love and compassion. And that is what Amma do. The world is full of intellectual discussions and analysis and science. But I think that Amma fills a need for just simplicity and love. I hope I will meet her some day. [FairfieldLife] Re: Guru Purnima Invitation
Haven't seen any collection of red lights in Fairfield outside of the Christmas season, and I've never been to that area of New Orleans, so I can't contrast Amsterdam with those. But I do occasionally walk by the raunchy district of Hollywood as there are a few good dance clubs in the area. My opinion: Prostitution is legal in Amsterdam and thus is far more open than in Hollywood. The tradition there is for women to rent a room with a floor to ceiling picture window about 3-5 feet wide in order to display themselves dressed in underwear. The spaces are usually lit with blacklights, so their underwear is often exceediingly well lit, bringing attention to the areas of their bodies that experience tells them most men pay attention to, and that many men will pay money to access. It's actually less grubby, less dangerous, and less potentially traumatic than in Hollywood. But it's WAY denser - some blocks will have 40-50 women on 2 - 3 floors, and there will be rowdy crowds of British/German/American 18-50 year-old tourists, usually quite drunk, milling about on the alley/street below making stupid comments or chattering excitedly about the scene. I guess it's the in-my-face part that bothers me. In Hollywood, I can ignore the 2-3 people who may or may not be streetwalkers as I proceed on my way, but in Amsterdam ignoring isn't possible. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, "Llundrub" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > So what's different between those places and say Hollywood or New Orleans' > red light districts? You're right - I did experience quite a bit of compassion, as well. Combined with hopelessness and despair... Yes. If you can't walk into a strip club and see Devi everywhere, and can't bow down to Devi in those forms, then these words of depression are a sad reflection of something else I think. But coming straight from the > coffee houses, i seriously doubt he will be depressed. I'm never depressed there no matter where I'm coming from. In its way, it's a very honest place. I wrote several of the stories in Road Trip Mind while sitting in the bar at Yab Yum, the most famous brothel in Amsterdam. It's filled with gold buddhas and authentic Asian art and lovely women who kinda adopted me as their pet, comme Toulouse Lautrec. And the stories themselves turned out full of light, as far as I can tell. But technically Yab Yum is not in the red light district, so maybe I was picking up golden light from the neighborhood it's in... :-) To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!' And, yes, I realize the light-hearted cynicism with which many of us treat the 'grand pronouncement of the day' from the TMO; learned, earned behavior. Actually, there's karma for you. And honesty. It's about bloody time someone treated Maharishi to his face the way he's treated people for decades. He's insulated himself for 40 years behind a barrier of idolizing blissninnies *so that* he never has to deal with the repercussions of his actions, and the impact of his own karma. When he dumps on somebody, usually he excommunicates them so he never has to see them again. I think this Guru Purnimah Invitation deal is going to be another sobering kick in the teeth for him. The Rama guy I worked with for a long time tried the same thing just before he died. Shortly after a long period of dumping on all of his current students from on high, saying that they were not worth his time to deal with, he sent out a message to all of his former students, everyone he'd ever worked with, saying, "Come to a big meeting, free this time." Most of them, who had seen this kind of classic "dump on them then embrace them" abuse behavior for years, didn't bother to show up. I'm betting that very few (other than those who've already bought into the recert thang) will show up in Vlodrop as well. The blissninnies in the TMO will explain away the low numbers with "Oh, the late notice meant that plane flights were too expensive for most people." But the truth will be that most people have had it up to here with this stuff, and aren't buying it any more. Literally. You *know* that this "gathering" is going to turn into an extended guilt trip to "inspire" more "donations." I have to protect who it was - it happened about 2 weeks ago - why, I do not know. My thought was that MMY need qualified people in his new organisation. As I know him - he is a very practical man. He can do a lot of compromises to accomplish what he want. I guess that he has recognized that recertification of TM-Teacher was not a big success. And that the ex-TM-Teachers have lost their interest in the TMO. One story from Norway. An ex-TM-Teacher was asked to arrange a Ghandarva-Veda concert.
