I am pleasantly surprised to see that you, raunchydog, a true-blue liberal, isn't dumping on Palin in a knee-jerk reaction like many liberals do. If you've ever read the comments section (as well as some of the blogs!) on the HuffingtonPost you'd see that they show her no mercy. I say now what I said during the campaign: Palin had more more executive experience than the other 3 men on the ticket combined (Biden, McCain, and Obama). And I believe she is snickered at not so much because she is a woman but because she is a BEAUTIFUL woman. And many people simply can't handle that. If she looked like Shirley Chisholm with the same platform, she would NEVER have been dumped on like she has been.

She isn't stupid either, the common wisdom notwithstanding. (Delusionary in many respects, but not stupid.) I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in the green room to hear her conversation with Shatner. He's surely appalled by her politics, but I bet she charmed the pants off him (so to speak).

Powerful women, whatever the source of their power, are still threatening, to both men and women. Except that Chisholm was also very charismatic despite her looks, so she was threatening too.

I won't defend Palin on her politics but I will defend her whenever anyone attacks her as a woman. Judy is correct. The reason the left attacks Palin isn't just that she is a woman; it's that she is a powerful woman. IMO the sexist attacks on Palin from the left were worse than the sexist attacks on Hillary, which were mostly from the left and from supposedly liberal men. It doesn't take much to flush out the sexists. All a woman has to do is express strong ideas and opinions powerfully and sexist men, usually the pompous blowhards, react as if challenged to a pissing match. You can always count on FFLife's most prominent sexists, Barry and Asscrack, to go crazy when Judy and I advocate for women, stand our ground on an issue, or dare correct them. When Judy, the able debater, wields her red marker or calls them out for lying, I say, Yea, for the women! Powerful women don't take shit. I'd love to see more women posting on FFLife but it's clear to me why they don't. It's not a woman friendly place.
