There are fundamentalists in almost all religions, Christian, Muslim, Judaic, Buddhist and Hindu. According to what I've read, there are five doctrines that are fundamental to the Christian faith: The Bible Holy Spirit and the inerrancy of Scripture as a result of this. The virgin birth of Christ. The belief that Christ's death was an atonement for sin. The bodily resurrection of Christ. The historical reality of Christ's miracles. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wrote : Thxas are most Christian Fundamentalists. The most interesting issues for me right now, is the fundamentalist aspect of learning and teaching the TM. It's ironic how a simple meditation technique - sitting in meditation for twenty-minutes twice a day - could morph in just a few years into a fundamentalist Hindu religious splinter-sect. Apparently there are no Christians, liberal or fundamentalist, regularly posting comments on this forum. And, there seems to be only one or two true believers in the Maharishi's Transcendentalism. Go figure. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wrote : Just received Jonathan Cahn's "The Book of Mysteries". Looks like a winner!! "But if today we deal with the phrase "to believe in God," we are apt to surround it with associations that have nothing to do with the great heritage of Christianity, but are rooted in modern semantic attitudes. These attitudes, in turn, have their origins both in a shift in the ordinary meaning of words and in the countless fundamentalist doctrines whose conflicting definitions have obscured the nature of both belief and reason. It is ironic that these fundamentalist sects, which consider themselves to be orthodox, are neither orthodox nor fundamentalist, for as theologians will point out, fundamentalism is nothing but a recent heresy. It is a heresy in that the Christian tradition as a whole has seldom until recently known the stubborn insistence on the letter of doctrine that the Fundamentalists believe essential to Christianity, whereas in actuality it does not occur in the early history of the Church. It might be well to state at this point that by the Church is meant the Christian tradition until the Catholic-Protestant schism of the 16th century. ~ Frederic Spiegelberg, Living Religions of the World (1957) Frederic Spiegelberg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederic_Spiegelberg Frederic Spiegelberg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederic_Spiegelberg Frederic Spiegelberg (May 24, 1897 – November 10, 1994) was a Stanford University professor of Asian religions.
