--- Marek Reavis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: However, one thing you said earlier about Maharishi getting furious at people asking about the baby technique, seems to indicate that at least some other people who heard him speak about this subject (whether at the times you or I did, or on other occassions) also understood him to be telling us that it was something to do. And the fact that he got mad at the question and denied that he ever told anyone to follow what he said doesn't surprise me, nor does it invalidate that he may have actually told people to do what he said the first time -- the way they (and me) seemed to have understood it. It's my feeling that in matters like this it doesn't pay to go back and ask for clarification. Although I can't remember specific instances I do remember hearing Maharishi say something at one time that seemed perfectly clear and at some later date someone asking a question re the same subject and Maharishi talking about it in a different way; and sometimes in a way that didn't seem as good or as clear as the first time around. Perhaps I'm not being very clear in that example; I don't exactly know how to express it. MMY does this all the time. On my TTC during his week of silence he told us to ...be easy with the mantra for a week. Someone asked about asanas and he said, No,no,no. Another asked about pranayama and he said, No,no,no. Another asked for clarification, So, Maharishi, we should meditate the whole week? And he said yes. A week later when he came out of silence and was suprised to learn that we had all been maeditating the entire week he asked us who had told us to meditate like that. When we collectively said that he had, he said he had told us no such thing. Go figure. Yahoo! This is just so much magical crap. Why not say These boots are made for walking. It will have just as much impact as a sanskrit phrase that has absolutely no meaning outside of a particular culture. I can just see some poor old dad dying, just about to slip the body and his skinny, pastey looking, broke, unmarried, eternally meditating son whispers in his right ear, Thiru Neela Kantam Dad, suddenly regains some awareness and says, What did you say? His son repeats, Thiru Neela Kantam. His dad says, Son, you're goin' daft on me, take care of your ma, will ya. And with that he croaks. --- sinhlnx [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ---Phrase to say when somebody is dying. Repeating a phrase alone is insufficient. Try running after a child with a stick in your hand and, if noticed by another adult, get ready for a trip down to the local police station, at the very least. So it's fine to run after people and threaten them with sticks as long as they're *not* children, then? What high standards you have, Judy. No, Judy, it was a stupid red herring--yet another-- you inserted in there, probably to deflect the discussion, as you so often do. Nobody had ever said MMY had run after children.
