How about a F8 Art Studio with only components already in Fedora and a
F9 Art Studio with *tons* of added goodies (fonts, photos, clipart, etc.)

Please don't. Fedora is healthy because every interest group contributes
to the package pool, instead of doing its own thing. Even olpc is being
re-absorbed now.

There is a lot of room for differentiation in installing Fedora stuff
not included in the other livecds (but available in the repo), changing
what's installed by default and what's not, etc

The intention is to have those goodies available in the Fedora
repositories, this is why I think F9 is a reasonable target for them.

My opinion: not. I think its better to release late but high quality
spin then early half made one.

fonts, content packages for gimp, etc.)

 Thoughts?

I'd add the Art Studio Spin on F9 feature list and try to make first try
available for F9 test 1. I do believe it is too late to make it F8 spin.

I like this approach :D Do one spot on the Art Team as a whole.
Perhaps if you could all organise between yourselves who's to answer
which subjects, and then I can send out questions as appropriate?

I already put the names: Mairin made the graphics for Infinity and she
is driving the initiative for Art Studio, Martin was one of the people
behind Nodoka (along with Daniel Geiger) and even if it does not make
the release (but is used in various places, like documentation), Luya is
the most active contributor to Echo.
There are also smaller things like the animated backgrounds, again made
by Mairin and we still have to work on things: CD/DVD graphics,
 marketing materials and more.

Yep, seems I quite overlooked this thread. Jonathan, I am willing to
answer your questions to Nodoka.

My opinion: not. I think its better to release late but high quality
spin then early half made one.

That really depends on whether there is a lot more packages needed that
are currently missing in Fedora and whether you message it as a
experimental spin or a more complete one.

I am of the opinion that we could get a early spin out by Fedora 8 and
message it explicitly as a experimental spin with the intention to have
a more complete spin by the next release or somewhere in between.

The missing packages are mostly content: fonts, brushes, clipart. I
don't think anyone named yet an application needed but not available yet
in Fedora.

I have a feeling: if we just say and wait for F9T1, the momentum may be
lost.
