Re: Flash for my new F12/64 install

2009-12-03 Thread Peter Reed
 Greetings again,

Would appreciate some advice on installing Flash for Firefox.

 TIA

Get the 64bit flash plugin here (1)
In the console change to the directory you downloaded the file to.
Untar the file tar xvf yourflashfile.tar.gz
sudo mv yourflashfile.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins or
su -c mv yourflashfile.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
restart firefox and everything should be fine.

(1)http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_64bit.html

Have fun.

 Hi;
I just got this card as it has a digital tuner.
Comcast decided to shift channels 30-70 to digital.

Anyway this tuner does not work yet in F10.

 Reading configuration from /home/mick/.tvtime/tvtime.xml

Hi
You have to use the Nvidia proprietary drivers for YUY2 overlay support. None
of the open source drivers have this. Time to fire up Rpmfusion repository.

But how do I tell if 96xx or 173xx is for my old Geforce FX Go5200
It would be the 173.14.12 package. You can always go to the nivida drivers
site and do a search for your hard ware.

Any thought about what's gooing on the kernel 2.6.27.5-37.fc9.x86_64?

I am having the same problem with a HP Pavilion dv6505us. I turned of the rhgb
and quiet options in grub and found it seems to be related to the touchpad as
well although I have an external logitech wireless track ball attached that I
have to unplug to get it to boot and I have to either touch the keyboard or
the touchpad to get it to continue to boot. Once it gets to the udev section
of the boot process I can plug the mouse back in and everything seems to work
fine.

Put hpet=disable in the kernel command line and see if that works. It

Yes thanks that seems to have fixed the problem. Booted fine. I have no idea
what hpet is but it seems to have something to do with amd processor.

Yes, I'm aware of nidswrapper but I'd rather not muck about with it just

Some Googling seems to indicate that Edimax EW-7128g works.

 Others?

I have the Edimax EW-7128g and just installed it and Fedora recognized right
away and Network Manager had no problems with it. In fact the box says right
on the cover that it will work with Fedora.

Thanks! How do I select the kde desktop?

For the kde desktop click on the menu Favorites System Settings The
Desktop icon Screen Saver then under the screen saver settings you will
see a check box for start automatically and make sure that box is checked
under that will be a check box for use password and how long before you will
be asked for a password.

It does not look like that particular card is supported by any Nvidia drivers,
even the beta drivers do not seem to support it yet.
Here is the page the that lists the supported gpu's for the beta drivers:
