Just making the clarification that even though things "should" work
there are times that they don't. AKA, bugs. FWIW, the OP hasn't
indicated what is being run at his end.

UDF 2.5 is only readable with kernel 2.6.26 and higher. The latest
kernel update from Fedora 9 should read a UDF 2.5 disc.

Yes, the operative word being "should". :-)

Are you saying your kernel is higher (on rhel4) ?

Well, being a rainy day in Taipei I did do some tests

1. Created a DVD in "master" mode on Vista was readable on RHELv4
2. Created a DVD in "live" mode on Vista and the default UDF version
was readable on RHELv4
3. Created a DVD in "live" mode on Vista and v2.5 UDF *not* readable on
RHELv4.

Could not test with F9.

my comment is probably OT, still ...
UDF also enables you to write larger files on to the disk, something like
another DVD image.

What version of Fedora are you using?

Doing a google search on "UDF-fs: No fileset found" gets you to a
bugzilla that suggests this may be fixed.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=vista-udf

There is also the suggestion that even if this is fixed that if the
burning is multi-session and not closed you may still see the problem.

FWIW, I've not tried doing thisbut maybe something I do this weekend.

UDF is the file system that is used for rewritable DVD/CDs, that is, ones that
support sessions, so that you can write data, then, at a later time, add more,
etc, until it is full, and then close (or permanently fix) it.

You need to load the udf kernel module:

sudo /sbin/modprobe udf

Then try 'opening' the disk. It should work now.

UDF-fs What is it?

2008-11-07 Thread Simon Slater
G'day all,
My daughter was given a DVD with photos on it. I can't open it
with
Konqueror. Dmesg says UDF-fs: No fileset found. What is the problem?
How do I fix it?

Thanks
