loose stools (Ember)
Last week, Ember went to the vet for a check-up. She's doing well, has gained weight, and her CBC looked good. About two days after the visit, she threw up a large hairball. Not long after, she had a really runny bowel movement, and then a very bizarre, watery stool. I took her off food for a day or so, then put her back only on canned food. She's been doing okay all weekend, though not much box activity. Today, I re-introduced the dry food and gave her canned food as normal. She had a nice and normal bm a few hours ago. I was really proud! Unfortunately, about thirty minutes ago, she had another runny, loose poop. Natalie posted about hairballs (re: Ember's runny stool then) last June. Could Ember be having further problems from the hairball? Wouldn't she be constipated if a hairball was impacted? I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to keep pulling the food and putting it back. I normally do free choice dry and one canned meal, but our eating times have been off for the last four days. She doesn't seem to be having any other problems. She's eating dry food right now, as a matter of fact. We've had my sister in town, guests for dinner downstairs and some slightly off hours due to Christmas. Still, I'd be surprised if stress was causing this. I'm going to call my vet tomorrow, but I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions anyone here might offer. Thanks, Lance

Re: Constipated Kitty
Kitty is very picky and his diet isn't a good diet. Alot of chicken and fish. I've started supplementing Taurine and a multivitamin (starting that tomorrow). He just doesn't eat cat food, at all. When he was on cat food he got very skinny because he just wouldn't eat it, and I tried lots of brands and flavors. He likes dark meat chicken and canned fish. RE: Tiny passed
I was so hoping Tiny would have lasted longer. I was talking to one of the vet tech's at from the first vet who saw my cats. She said she of course was not in the position to make a diagnosis but said form what I described it sounded like he threw a blood clot. All I know is that it was quick. Thank goodness, I had spent time with him today. He had spent the previous hour lying next to me. No obvious respiratory distress at that time. I had just left his side to send few emails. I had been thinking of Bandy and praying that no kitties would die today. I always suspected he had asthma. All I know is he was coughing and started turning blue almost immediately, his eyes were dilated and fixed. I knew it was not good. We have an oxygen tank here for Eric, but it was empty and I looked to the backup. When I got back to him less than a minute he was gone. I buried him in the dark and rain. I will have to go out tomorrow and do a better job. I could not really see and I was crying hysterically. I have not talked much about Tiny, because he was the one I thought could turn it around. He was still playful up until yesterday. He enjoyed life so much. Now there is Junior left. We shall see. Thanks for your support. Bandy was such a fighter, and such an inspiration over the years. The lessons he taught us all will never be forgotten, and he served a higher purpose, I believe, having taught SO MANY of us what hope beyond hope is. Time and time again, he would rally for another round at life. His final gift? Teaching us when it is time to let go. May he find his way to the higher place he deserves to go to, for all the good he has given to use over the years. Peace to Bandy, may he always be with us in spirit! Peace to you as well Kerry, I know he was a much loved boy, and he passed knowing your love all around him. he could not have asked for anything more. He was blessed, and we were all blessed to have known him. I am, understandably, in tears as I write this. I'm going to try to be at the pet loss chat tonight, please consider dropping in Kerry! He had a seemingly benign URI. Not really showing symptoms of being in distress. He seemed worse today, but not life threatening. Five minutes ago he started choking I tried to hold him nothing would help. He was turning blue. Before I could get oxygen to him he was gone. I so did not expect this like this. He was the healthier one of my two FelV babies. This has been one horrible year. Sally
Re: Bandy is an angel now
Kerry, Big hugs to you in your loss of Bandy. He is a healthy fellow once again, no pain or discomfort. He'll miss your loving care as you miss him though. You gave him your all and that is the most we can do for our furbabies. MY heart goes out to you. Tiny and Bandy passed about the same time. They should meet at the Rainbows Bridge. Please add Tiny to the CLS . Re: How's Bandy doing?
Aww, poor baby. I do hope that someone is there 24/7 at your vet's clinic. I don't think I would leave him somewhere where no-one was there to check up on him. If that's the case, there should be an emergency clinic somewhere that you could take him to where he would be watched. He seems too sick to just be left unattended. Poor Bandy. It's just so many things piled on top of each other, it's like his body is his own worst enemy. I'm pulling for him, as always. I do hope he takes a turn for the better really quickly, as he sounds like he is extremely miserable right now. Maybe keeping him sedated is the kindest thing right now. Re: How's Bandy doing?
I don't know today...On Sunday I went in the morning when the tech was there and he seemed good and even ate some dry sensitive stomach for me...then I went back about 2 hrs later and he was in alot of pain so I asked if she could call the vet to get some pain meds...then she did and he was knocked out so I had to leave..I wanted him to rest, but when she gave him the injection he just had watery stool laying there...it was a mess so I cleaned him up myself..I think the stress of it all... Anyway she called me today 9am but whne I got there around 10 or lil after nobody was there..so I don't know what to think cause yesterday it took her around 6 hrs to do all the kennels as they have about 40 animals boarded there...I Just hate this... I have to bring him home later today as we have to leave for Dallas at 5:30 am... Maybe she just went in to medicate the ones that needed it and then when to do Christmas with her family and will come back after lunch..I hope.. I don't want them to give him any more reglan as it just knocks him out...I think that is why he got so unalert yesterday after I was there the first time cause she had given him inj before I went back so the reglan probably made him drowsey...his legs hurt him and he was just crying alot...I knew he was in pain...so I hope that helped him.. Please keep the prayers coming... Merry Christmas to you all...Hope all your fur babies are well today...and can have some turkey...I am going to try to get Bandy to eat some when I get him home and Inky, too..
