Never tried the fish Erythromycin but the fish mox is great. I usually buy
from www.revivalanimal.com. I think it's around $25 for 100 500-mg capsules.
Works great. The main difference is that the powder in the capsules is coarser
and doesn't dissolve as easily as human grade.

Oral antibiotics should clear an ear infection, no need for topical
antibiotics unless you just prefer to do it that way. That being said, I
have used Tresaderm, which is a thiabendazole, dexamethasone, and neomycin
sulfate solution for use in the ear. It's good for inflamed and painful
ears, as the steroid helps reduce the inflammation. I think it's a much
better product than the Otomax.

I've used the clamamox, zithromax and baytril, but not the amoxi. (I keep fish

I have used otomax with no probems though I do not put it deep in the ear
canal. The otomax is a salve. If you need medicine to go deeper into the ear
talk to the vet about something more liquid.

First, avoid direct topical treatment with getamychin in it – if you google
with side effects on the drug, you will find some scary stuff - I wish I never
used it on Ghandi – as sometimes the damage is permanent – this is also common
in humans from what I found out –

Have you tried like clavomox orally first or baytrill orally (also watch out
the amount on this drug as I have a cat who became blind from this drug) – and
also not to use topical one – lots of times, it does not require topical drug
to treat the ear infection. Also, have you flushed the ears already? If will
help to clean the infections.

Belinda, could you add Laura's Fax to the CLS please?

2007-02-20 Thread MacKenzie, Kerry N.
Hi Belinda--I just wrote to Laura ("L. Johnson" on our listserve)
offlist as I'm way behind with my email and had said she was
unsubscribing.
Is it possible you could add her her Fax to the CLS (see below). He was
put to sleep on February 14.
Thanks very much,
Kerry

 Hi Kerry

Thanks so much for the kind words. If you want to add my kitty to the
list,
that would be nice. He came into my life as someone else's throw-away,
but his
life had great significance for me.

His name was Fax. Embarrassing but true. When he showed up at the
feeding
station one night, he looked just like another feral cat I fed, like a
'fax' of
the other cat. It was a goofy name that unfortunately stuck. I'm sorry I
didn't
give him a more regal name.

Fax was put to sleep on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

There's so much I could say about him. Suffice to say, I will remember
and love
him always.

Thank you
Laura
