Re: (Fwd) Leukemia Positive Kittens (My opinion...Terrie)
That is so very true, Belinda! Yes, this does happen! Thank you for pointing this out! I'm sorry this took me for a loop! I deal with these type of situations all the time. 1) Animal Bunchers that sell to the highest bidder 2) Research B Labs 3) Usedin training for dogfights 4) Human Consumption I had a litigation last year over Animal Bunchers thankfully I won! To this day they are still being watched...YAY!!! Please hope these babies don't end up like this. Pray they go to good homes! Where did you find them a home, if my 5 little kittens are positive again next week I will have to find placement, I have over 80 foster kittens and cats so not fair to them to live in a bathroom, they sure do seem healthy though. praying for a negative test on all 5 of them Terri Gina Jesser wrote: Found a good home for them, thank you to everyone sending me suggestions. I used a group called freecycle.org. I used it in my city of las vegas but you can post just about anyware, in any city or multiple cities. This website is for keeping our landfill clean. Giving away things people would normally put in the trash. A lot of different animals for all sorts of reasons for giving them away. I took a shot and this lady lived very close to me and came over and took them. If I find anyone else that will help with this problem, I will let this group know right away. Re: (Fwd) Leukemia Positive Kittens
belinda and kerry, thank you for reminding folks about this important reality how did the chicago freecycle group get talked into not doing animals? i know there are folks all over the country who spend a couple of hours every day flagging messages on their local boards to get them hidden what a great idea, too, to suggest the folks give the nominal donation fee to their local shelter (or the rescue that couldn't take them for lack of funds/room.)! On 8/4/05, MacKenzie, Kerry N. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi GinaBless you for caring for 80 kitties---in fact I just mentioned yourwonderful work to Nancy (mom of Georgie, who's gone missing).I wanted to add a cautionary note re giving away animals. I also belong to freecycle in Chicago, where members are not allowed to post animals, for fear of them being sold for lab experiments etc. I think this isexcellent policy and I'm surprised it's not implemented across the board (as you know freecycle is worldwide).I really pray this lady is a genuine cat lover--as she lives so near youis there any way you can come up with a reason to go visit her - andcheck on the kittens while you're there? A fee -- often $50---is usually recommended when putting animals up foradoption. That way it weeds out the unsavory types who just want to sellthem on to labs for a few dollars. The $$$ can be given to a shelter. I truly hope you're not offended by my saying this--we cat people haveto stick together. I have to take that risk for the sake of the furryones.take care, Kerry-Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED][mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Gina JesserSent: Thursday, August 04, 2005 12:19 PMTo: felvtalk@felineleukemia.orgSubject: Re: (Fwd) Leukemia Positive KittensI used a group called freecycle.org. Title: Message Jenn I'm as sickened as you by the response you got. I'm going to go on freecycle this weekend and see if Chicago still bans animals. I've not visited the site for about 3 months. All i know is I was delighted when i joined to see that they didn't allow animals. I sure hope that hasn't changed. When I joined, I posted all kinds of info about reasons NOT to give animals away for free. I was, more or less, told to shut and mind my own business and to keep my catrescue-extremist ways to myself. No amount of education can help inform those who do not wish to be educated. Whatever... I did what I could, they told me to shut up or I would be unsubscribed, so I gave up. I see unspayed pets going to undereducated homes all the time on that freecycle list now, they probably all have reproduced, and have added to the pet overpopulation problem now. I hope that at LEAST people who give animals away for free on freecycle get at minimal a verbal agreement to have the animal spayed or neutered. What can we do it's human ignorance, you can't win against that. Re: (Fwd) Leukemia Positive Kittens
Little Rock Freecycle does allow pets. But they seem pretty conscientious about it - and being a smaller area, easier to check up on people and adoptions. I decided to try it once for someone with kittens that we didn't have a foster home for. But no takers responded, so I have no experiences to report! Transport is usually NOT a problem. All of these yahoogroups help rescue animals get to their new homes, via volunteer transport drivers. Once you are approved for the adoption, then you can arrange to get the kitten to you on one or several of these transport lists. Just join them, and tell them where the kitten is, where you are, and all the info about the kitten, including it's FELV status, and I'm sure someone will help you out! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CatTransport http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CritterConvoys http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AllAnimalTransportPlace http://groups.yahoo.com/group/animaltransportnetwork http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OnTheRoadAgain http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transportexpress JennAdopt a FIV+ cat:http://jenn.rescuegroup.org/FELV/FIV/ ~~~ Hello I am interested in adopt a kitten, butI live in Corpus Christi, Texas.
