If the main benefit is to just save a few entries in the expression definition list, wouldn't it instead be more fruitful to put the request efforts into how expressions are handled by Finale's user interface? I guess that you're not using midi in your work, or you would see the benefit of having each expression "midified." Legato and non legato would probaly still require some adjustment to note durations, but velocities and pizz./arco are wonderful for playback review.
