Just to clarify: this bug can occur on any device, such as printers or on the screen. It's very resolution-specific. On my configuration (1280*1024, large system fonts), I get a lot of those slurs on screen, but only at some zoom view values. For example, a slur might look buggy when viewed at 85%, but appear correct at 84% or 86%. Or, a slur might look buggy on a 1200 DPI printer, but appear correct when printed at 600 DPI. > It is a bad bad bug, because it makes one loose one's trust in Finale's page > view. Even so, the slurs only misbehave at some magnifications (usually 100%) and not at others (like the ones I edit on-screen at). I've always assumed it was a bug, and my solution has been to turn off Engraver slurs for that slur and tweak it manually. I'm on Finale 2003b for Win, have no custom fonts, and mainly use plain vanilla Maestro. I notice that all my font annotation files are dated 8/7/2001. BTW, I notice that the problem is especially noticeable when the slur is on the stem side. Maybe it's trying to avoid something that isn't there? Any suggestions for a real fix to this problem are appreciated. It's particularly annoying when I only find the problem after printing. "Check for weirdly shaped slurs" is now one of the items on my proofreading list. -Lee ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

The Bug of the Valleys and Hills. It bites Engraver Slurs. At first this virus is not detectable in Page view or in Postscript preview, and then when it is distilled to PDF, the PDF has Mount Everests or Grand Canyons on it. It is a bad bad bug, because it makes one loose one's trust in Finale's page view. What You See is What You Want but Don't Get. Re: [Finale] Fin 2k4
You are right about reporting bugs. I too will file my complaint now. However, you mentioned that it occured in 2001. I never noticed it there before, and I have done a very great deal of work with 2001. But In 2003 it is popping up all over the place. The only 'fix' I've found so far is to select all slurs in page view and move them by one nudge and then back. They have to be all on screen for it to work, though. One page at a time. What a waste of time. Which particular bug is being referenced here? Could you be a bit more specific? Jari is correct. It would be best to e-mail the request to winsupport directly. The more people we hear from about a bug the more attention we can give to getting it fixed. Mr. Liudas Motekaitis writes: > Did you ask them if they fixed the slur bug? This bug is embarrassing. Although I agree with you about this bug, it's probably helpful to understand a bit how Coda/MakeMusic works when deciding what (or when) to fix: If too few people complain about a bug, Coda/Makemusic will not fix it since they believe that it isn't a major problem. The same goes (more or less) for feature requests. FWIW, I've been complaining about this bug since Fin2001. So your chance to get this fixed in Fin2004 is to make sure tech support get reproducible bug reports.
