Re: [Finale] beam across barlines: tuplets and feathered beams
- make sure "do not adjust previously adjusted beams" is checked if you use patterson beams and any beams that don't need V adjusting should be nudged an evpu (at 1000%) also, so they aren't affected by patterson beams. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
[Finale] beam across barlines: tuplets and feathered beams
i'm working on a files with some instances of feathered beaming and tuplets across barlines. this has always been a problem, but one that patterson PI solves quite nicely in the SC. however, in the PTs it is a disaster since you can't control the horizontal beam extension independetly in the SC and PT. the client i am working for uses note-attached smart shapes for feathered beams and i realized that this is an excellent solution to the problem explained above: don't use beam extensions, instead use a note-attached smart shape. such a simple solution, why did i not discover this client before?! this also solves the problem of two different beam angles in one beamed group, it seems to me to be much easier to do this kludge than to fool around with beam angle AND beam extensions, especially in the case of linked parts. http://newmusicnotation.com/TEMPFILES/feathered_across_barline.pdf left = with beam extensions; right = with "the new method" file that in the "another solution [a.k.a. kludge] to finale's continuing ignorance of the linked parts problems" category. - adjust beam height as needed - make sure "do not adjust previously adjusted beams" is checked if you use patterson beams - view at 1000% (shift-click-drag at the top left corner of teh area you want to work in) - select the glissando tool, note-attach angled beams, position and adjust - note-attach main beams across barlines, holding shift to constrain vertically yeah baby! ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
Re: [Finale] FinWin 2k6 - getting mad setting up a very simple percussion staff...
Thanks David, it worked, lost one hour finding a clue dhbailey ha scritto: Marcello Noia wrote: I need to create a percussion staff for handclapping. There's a little box entitled "Use This Note" or some such in the place where you set up that position 6 and handclap sound, etc. If you fail to check that box you get results like you are describing. Check your percussion map. I have always thought that since one is editing a drum note like you did, that Finale would naturally assume that you want to "use that note" but it doesn't. I guess the program assumes that you just like fiddling with things you won't use, and so that box doesn't get checked automatically if you edit anything in that dialog. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

[Finale] Crash: Fin2007, Patterson, TGTools
Hi all, I'm working on an intensive Finale project right now, and I'm noticing something I've never seen before involving frequent Finale crashes. I'm working in WinFin2007 on XP Pro SP3 with the latest Patterson Plugins and TGTools. I'm using TGTools to map F7 to Patterson Mass Copy, so that I can select a region, hit F7 to set the source, select a destination, and hit F7 again to paste. After several times doing this (the number varies), Finale crashes with an unhandled Win32 exception. This is behavior I don't remember seeing before, especially with such regularity. My only workaround is to save my work very frequently, so that when Finale crashes I don't lose too much. This is the same computer I've had for about 4 years, so it's unlikely to be hardware related. The only difference from previous intensive Finale work periods is that I'm on SP3 now instead of SP2. Because of how I have this set up, there's no good way for me to tell whether the problem is in Finale, or in the TGTools keyboard hook, or in Mass Copy itself. Yes, I could do further testing to isolate what's going on, but I'm afraid I don't have time for that right now. So basically, I'm writing just to see whether anyone else has experienced this -- and Robert and Tobias, if you're reading, to see whether you have any idea what's going on. Thanks, Aaron. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
