Your message containing the question about 2-bar repeats, which you

I'm having the same problem in both locations. Unlike all previous versions,

Yes, but re-creating your default file from scratch in each new version is
actually a good idea. It's a huge pain, of course, but it ensures that there
are no conversion artifacts.

I respond:
That's what I did. Started fresh with the original Maestro Font Default from
Finale 2011 (although at this point I don't remember which one from it's
many locations).

I have some templates in the template folder in my user folder's Music
Files, and Finale reads them just fine. But it won't find my default file.

I hear you. But I'm not sure that it's such a good idea to try to use files
created with older versions of Finale in newer versions. I got into trouble
doing this a few versions back, and since then have made a point of taking an
hour to edit the fresh new default file in each new version. Since then no more
problems.

[Finale] Resizing staves maintaining vertical layout?

2011-03-08 Thread Matthew Hindson (gmail)
Can anyone suggest another way to do this - I want to maintain the
vertical layout on the page, but increase the size of each staff.

Presently I've been doing this by changing the % of each staff using the
% tool, but it's rather tedious, especially for a large orchestral score...

Thanks

It pushes everything down, i.e. makes space for the resized staves.

What I want is to increase the size of the staff but maintaining each
staff position on the page.

Re: [Finale] Resizing staves maintaining vertical layout?

2011-03-08 Thread Steve Parker
I'm not sure that's possible in one step because of how Finale treats
the space between systems.
It should be possible to do the whole document by resizing staff
system then altering system margins.
I have to do this for page 1 then for all the other pages together,
due to title etc on page 1.

Please be aware that what you're doing is not the same as a system
resize, since staff resizing will keep the staff name sizes and such.

What you seem to want to do is a 2-step process (and perhaps the use of
a calculator):

1. Resize the systems (using system resizing)
2. Mark all the staves in the document in page view and then use
Staff/Respace Staves... (use the Scale to % option)

Best regards,
