Re: [Finale] Reorder staffs on one system only?

Robert, Robert, I get your point, you don't have to repeat yourself. I really
think we both want the same thing: to understand what is motivating the
student/caller, to find out what he/she really wants. And I do understand that
when someone calls tech-support with a problem that has been driving him crazy,
the last thing he wants to hear is why do you want to do that. It's really
just a question of language. Mine is more old-fashioned-confrontational (which
only really works vis-a-vis), yours is more Internet/caller-friendly. I'm still
trying to get a handle on the latter.
Cheers!

The MakeMusic folks seem to have a deathwish with 2012. The latest is an ASIO

I don't have a crash, but running Finale causes other audio applications to
distort (even if I'm not using any Finale playback). As soon as I shut Finale,
the other applications return to normal.

[Finale] Finale mac 2012 HELP

2012-08-31 Thread Linda Worsley
I have just loaded 2012 and opened several of my files to edit. They look
great, but I keep coming across things that don't work, or that don't work
the same way I'm used to. A couple of them have me completely hung up.

1) I can no longer find any Instrument List to change internal
instruments (I use them for checking only).

2) I need to change the MIDI files of each track in order to create a
standard MIDI file that can then be opened with all the tracks as separate
staves. How do I do that in 2012? I've been doing this for decades
without a hitch and suddenly don't have a clue!

3) a lot of text blocks (both attached to page and attached to measure)
will not show up with the little handle that lets me move them, delete
them, open them etc. I have had to delete measures to get rid of unwanted
or screwed up text blocks and then re entered the music for those measures
(PAIN!) AND

4) The text too will not do what it has always done. In 2010 when I double
clicked anywhere on the score it allowed me to create a text block. Now...
nothing. Sometimes it works, but it usually doesn't. Where did I go
wrong.

Any help on any of these issues and I'm a friend for life!

Thanks

That's probably the expected behavior. Audio apps don't often like to share the
same driver unless it's specifically multi-client.

This is Windows with a Saffire Pro 40. I can have multiple clients running at
the same time -- VLC, Sonar, Vegas, Audition, YouTube, MLB... Only running
Finale causes everybody else to distort.

Re: [Finale] Finale mac 2012 HELP

2012-08-31 Thread Christopher Smith
Hi Linda,

1. is now in Score Manager (command-K on a Mac, probably control-K on a PC). If
you want to change instruments mid-piece, select the passage OR only the first
applicable measure if you want it until the end, and go to the Utilities menu
and choose Change Instrument. I find this a lot better, though it IS a bit of a
kludge to have the same instrument with different transposition, and it is
harder to tell where the instrument changes are, after having changed them.

2. I've never done anything except Save As... and select MIDI file. How do you
change MIDI files for each track? I don't even know what that means. Do you
mean MIDI channels? That is in Score Manager, again.

3. I haven't seen this. But the Selection Tool (hit Escape to select it by
default, it's very quick) can select almost anything so it can be dragged,
nudged or deleted, and double-clicking something like a Text block will
automatically change to the tool used to create the item. Could it be that
these are expressions, not text blocks? It's a different tool.

4. Again, I haven't seen this. It works normally on my Mac. Is it this way
after restarting the computer? Do you have one of the new Mac laptops that have
a right-click on the trackpad, and you are accidentally clicking that instead?
That took me some getting used to.

Christopher

Re: [Finale] Finale mac 2012 HELP

2012-08-31 Thread Darcy James Argue
Hi Linda,

Please report this to Finale tech support. I've had the same issue
intermittently but they can't seem to reproduce in-house. The text block *is*
being created when you double-click, it's just invisible -- if you force a
redraw (cmd-R) you'll see it, and can select it and edit it.

Cheers,
