[Finale] copy time signatures

2013-09-24 Thread Chuck Israels
Copying from one document to another. The source has varied time signatures,
but they are not copying to the new document. Copy All selected. What am I
missing?

Thanks,

Chuck

You need to copy the full stack of measures from the original document.

And I've found that you need to select all in the destination document before
pasting.

Dear Klaus and Ryan,

Your suggestions worked. Saved much irritation.

Thank you.

[Finale] LaserJet 5000 and Windows 8

2013-09-24 Thread Williams, Jim
Good morning, everyone...

Is anyone using a LaserJet 5000 with Windows 8? I'm having a host of driver
issues.
I want to print at 1200 DPI out of PCL6 or PS.
The Universal Print Drivers max out evidently at 600 dpi.

The PCL 6 driver I got off Windows Update has a host of problems, including a
setting in the EFFECTS area that automatically resets whatever paper size I
want to letter with no ability for the user to override.

Is there perhaps a driver for a different HP printer that will work with
Windows 8 and let the 5000 do all it can do?

AND: I eventually want to acquire a duplexer for the 5000--anyone have one or
know someone who wants to part with one? Not much online. Maybe I better wait
until I see if Windows 8 will even allow use of the duplexer on the 5000.

Thanks...
Jim

[Finale] Linked Parts issue

2013-09-24 Thread Robert Patterson
I have a linked part with a tacet movement. The way I have handled this in
the past is by grouping all the bars on one system and then hiding the
system. This time, however, I have a couple of extra cue staves. I have
hidden the cues staves with Blank Layer 1 with rests and Force Hide
(Collapse). However, now when I try to hide the actual part staff, it
continues to show the barlines. (And hiding barlines doesn't hide them.)
Has someone gotten this to work?

I think all staves in score must be showing and destination must have identical
staff setup.

Re: [Finale] copy time signatures

The destination setup does NOT have to be identical to that of the source.

If I make a second version for a different ensemble setup, it sometimes is
impractical to copy the full source score. I then make a temporary file where I
delete all but the top stave. I the copy the full contents of the temporary
file to the destination file.

Don't know if this could fit your workflow, but the way I have dealt
with tacets is to create a non-numbered MM rest with a Tacet
expression text.

There's a JW Lua sample script on the full script sample page in the
wiki that creates the tacet rest, except the expression text. Please
note that the tacet is created regardless if there are notes or other
MM-breaking stuff in the region:

I figured out my problem, though recovering was a pain. The problem was
that I had only included the right hand of the piano in the part. This is
obviously a Finale bug, but also a lesson learned: Include all staves of a
part or none!

My temporary files are scores with just one stave. Holds time and key changes,
tempo indications, rehearsal numbers, and possibly more not remembered right
here.

But your temporary file has to have the same setup as that of the score
-- no matter what you call it, the place you initially paste the
contents from one score has to equal the setup of the place you are
copying from.

Of course you can then do any edits you want in the temporary file and
the copy to the final destination, but that fill will have to be the
same setup as the temporary file.
