Indeed this is a strange thing. I had long conversations with MM support staff
on this - even going so far as to use screen sharing so that they could work on
my computer with my files. It was never fully resolved until the latest
update. Please watch out for this, and if it happens often, let MM know. It
can seriously impede the workflow.

Good luck,

Barbara,

I had this problem months ago - before the update of 2014.  I wish I could be
sure I remember how it was resolved.  What I think I remember was that it was a
result of corrupted preferences.  I suggest deleting the current preference
file.  I hope you keep copies when you create your preference files.

This is a serious bug, if it cannot be easily resolved.  I have not had the
problem appear within the last few months of work.

In the User Manual Encyclopedia section (Fin 2011) or Index (some newer
versions), look for "To move expressions assigned to score lists".
Actually, in the FinMac user manual, the index has "staff lists" instead
of "score lists", but the page itself has "score lists".

Looks like the key is the same on Mac, the backtick. (Though the user
manual calls it tilde, which would be Shift-backtick and is incorrect.)

Hi Darcy,

I'm still using 2011, so YMMV.

I can do what I think you're talking about by holding down both the
top-staff override key (backtick on Win) and the part override key (Ctrl
on Win) while dragging the rehearsal letter in the score. The former
prevents the move from affecting other staves, and the latter unlinks
the expression and prevents it from moving in the part.

Aaron.
