[Finale] Inserting / Copying Staff styles ...

2015-09-23 Thread Raimund Lintzen
... again resend while it did not come through.

Dear listers,

does anyone know a way to insert a whole file into another one
(combining files) which will place the staff styles to the correct region?

... or as another solution to copy from one file to another?

Whatever I tried - no luck - I can't get the staff styles
where they should be.

I tried Fin2011, Fin2012 + Fin2014.

It is a big orchestra-score I am working on.

Any help?

Thanks.

Re: [Finale] Inserting / Copying Staff styles ...

2015-09-23 Thread Christopher Smith
Each Staff Style has to have in its definition the “Copyable” box checked. Most
of the ones that come built-in with Finale have this checked, but whenever you
create a new one, the box is UNchecked by default, so you have to remember to
check it.

Also, even if the Staff Style has been copied in the score correctly, there are
strong chances that it will not show up in the parts correctly. To solve this,
go to the score after all Staff Styles are entered, select the Staff Tool,
select All, and choose from the Staff menu “use selected staff styles in all
parts and score” (or something like that.)

2015-09-23 Thread SN jef chippewa

i don't have a solution, but just to confirm this seems to be bad
behaviour in finale. a colleague has asked me about this (pc F2014),
had a similar problem with merging files, staff styles were not
included. as i say, no solution from me (because i haven't tested
it), but i would check if this happens all the time r only on cases
where the staff styles are different in SC/PTs... jsut a thought.

If Score Merge doesn't work, you could try moving the staff styles with my
Mass Copy plugin after merging.

There was a glitch on the list over the weekend which caused most if not
everyone to receive these "bounced address" messages. Henry reset the list
manually and things seem to be working correctly now.

[Finale] Vibraphone KS, non-vibrato in Garritan playback?

2015-09-23 Thread Douglas Brown
Hello, all. I posted this during the "bounces" period, so it likely didn't go
through. Please forgive if you're seeing this twice.

WinFin 2012c: I'd like to have human playback for vibes switch to non-vibrato,
if possible. I've searched this list, both forums, and the (ever-useful)
manual for past knowledge, but to no avail. Maybe it's not something
available, but I can't help ask since vibraphone is listed as a KS instrument
in Garritan. If it won't play with the "motor off", what else does it do?

Thanks in advance,

Douglas Brown

I was looking for the Text Font changing options in the Lyrics Menu, but
they are in the Text Menu. Not exactly intuitive, but it's the same
everywhere else in Finale. I just don't use the Lyrics Tool that much.

Re: [Finale] Vibraphone KS, non-vibrato in Garritan playback?

2015-09-23 Thread Jan Angermüller
Hi Douglas,

you can change the "Tremolo speed and level" for the "Vibraphone KS" on
the Aria player "Control" page.
It's listed as CC22 and CC23, so it's probably also possible to change
these values with a Finale text expression during the score playback
using a MIDI message on CC22/23.

Re: [Finale] Force lyrics all same size on reduced notes

2015-09-23 Thread Jan Angermüller
I also have this problem with lyrics cue notes where the lyrics
sometimes appears too small to read.

The best solution I found was using two layers for this:
1.) one layer with the reduced cue notes (for example Layer 3)
2.) second layer with "Blank notation" staff style applied with the cue
notes if full size and the lyrics applied to this layer (Layer 4)
In combination it will show reduced cue notes from Layer 3 and full size
lyrics from Layer 4.

Another idea might be using "Fixed Size" fonts. But I never solved some
layout issues they involve.

I'm not at my Finale computer now, but I believe if you go into the Edit Lyrics

2015-09-23 Thread Harold Owen
Hello Robert,

You could try this: When there is another syllable for a cue-sized note, back
up to the main note, enter its syllable, then enter a "hard space"
(Option-Space on Mac), then enter the next syllable. You might have to do some
manual adjusting, but I think it might work.

If you reduce the noteheads versus reduce the note, the fonts won't change size.
