Where do I go to make this file play Thanks, Linda Linda, look in the Score Manager, and make sure that the assigned channels (at the right) agree with the ARIA player settings. It has happened for me, too. Ian ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Re: [Finale] print forces update layout??
You may be able to obtain the 12 EVPUs by reducing the width of the preceding measures by a total of the required number of EVPUs. (Measure tool - click on the individual measure(s) and alter the width number.) [I have done this with single staves - I don't know if it works with the whole system.] - Original Message - From: SN jef chippewa shirl...@newmusicnotation.com To: finale@shsu.edu Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 7:13 PM Subject: Re: [Finale] print forces update layout?? Is there somewhere I can define the time signature numeral characters? If I can blank out the plus and some digits I may be able to fake something with a composite time signature. that will surely give you way more space than you need what about creating an expression of a staff (5 lines, attached to all staves) that is something like 12 EVPUS (or whatever extra you need) and adjusting the system to end 12 EVPUS from the right margin? ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
Re: [Finale] beams over rests
My usual method is to lengthen the stems of the beamed groups - [Tools/Advanced Tools/Special Tools/Beam Angle] - and if necessary, hide the rest in Voice 1, and create one in Voice 2 in Speedy, as Robert Patterson recently wrote in this list - or Layer 1(hide) and Layer 2 (create) in Simple input. You should be able to restore the rests to their original positions. Ian - Original Message - From: dc den...@free.fr To: finale-shsu.edu finale@shsu.edu Sent: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 5:41 PM Subject: [Finale] beams over rests I have a piece where 16th rests alternate with 16th notes beamed two by two, which means the beam is over the rest. Is there a plug-in or some way to avoid having the beams collide with the rests (some of which are vertically shifted, because there are two voices or layers on the same staff)? Re: [Finale] secondary beams over rests
Thank you, Robert. I tried it - works perfectly. It also works in Simple entry, using a second layer - but there is a bit more mucking about to do. Very grateful. Ian - Original Message - From: Robert Patterson rob...@robertgpatterson.com To: finale@shsu.edu Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 11:00 AM Subject: Re: [Finale] secondary beams over rests This is an annoying workaround that I use. Once you get the hang of it you can set it up pretty fast, but it doesn't space correctly nor does it alway copy/past correctly. Turn beaming over rests ON. For the 16th note-rest-8th note pattern, in speedy hide the rest using the O key, then enter a rest in V2 at that same spot. With a little practice, you can manage to get the hang of entering the V2 rest at the right level and leaving the stems pointing in the right directions.
