Re: [Finale] Finale using the wrong instruments when in Staff View

2014-07-09 Thread Craig Parmerlee
Quick update here. I submitted to Finale and they accepted it as a
product defect to be fixed.

It only comes into play when using Smartsynth. If you use Aria, the
problem does not occur.

using Windows Finale 2014. The template imported fine and I am having
no difficulties using it for music entry.

The problem I am having is that when I am in scroll view using a staff
set (the strings, e.g.), if I use the transport buttons to play back the
music, it is taking the instruments from the upper part of the score
(woodwinds). If I do immediate playback with ctl-spacebar, the voices
are exactly right. The voices are right when doing Speedy Entry. The
voices are right when playing back in Page View. It is only in staff
set scroll view where things are messed up.

This template has so many instruments that it does go into three banks
(all using Smartsynth), so maybe everything is erroneously going to bank
1 when in scroll view. I need to do more testing. When I created a new
score with just 2 instruments, I did not have this problem,

Has anybody else come across this?

More testing on this problem:

I created a score from scratch in F2014 with 30 instruments (in 2
banks), all Smartsynth as assigned by the wizard. I could not get this
problem to occur on that score.

I went back to my live score and saved it in XML format. I closed
Finale, then restarted it and imported the XML. This forced all the
instruments to be assigned to new MIDI channels starting from bank 1,
channel 1. I figured that would clear up the problem as there wouldn't
be residue remaining from my MUSX file. But this still has exactly the
same problem.

It isn't a show-stopper, but is definitely annoying. And here's another
curiosity. If I take the misbehaving score and reassign the MIDI
instrument and/or channel, that staff no longer plays back at all.

Can you email a copy of the file down to franklin so I can look at it?
