[Finale] playback issues
Hi all, Called MM for an answer, but they are closed for a meeting. Perhaps there’s someone who can tell me why Finale playback (Mac, Sierra, Finale v25) will only play back through the internal speakers when the device on the USB output is selected in the Mac audioMIDI setup. This USB output device is working for other playback (iTunes), just not for Finale. When I go back to Finale 2014.5, I can’t get any output at all. (This only since upgrading the OS. It was working fine through the USB output before.) Help? Thanks, Chuck Chuck Israels cisra...@comcast.net (360) 201-3434 8831 SE 12th Ave. Portland OR 97202 ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
Re: [Finale] playback issues
I found that some file's settings where changed after installing Finale's 2014.5 (couldn't say for the very last version); in a couple of cases I realised changes under the MIDI/AUDIO menu where 'Play Finale Through Audio Units' was switched to 'Play Finale Through MIDI' and vice versa. By re-fiddling with these and other settings under the MIDI/Audio menu I was able to regain the playback functions. Re: [Finale] playback issues
Thanks, Giovanni, I found the place where there was an incorrect setting. There are two places under Audio/MIDI device setup where you can choose the output, in the Macs OS set up, and in Finale’s Device/ Audio Setup. I had missed the Finale setting that had become reset by the OS upgrade (and was never set correctly in v25). Now all is well. Just one of those things that needs to be set correctly in two places instead of one. Re: [Finale] PLAYBACK ISSUES
Fin2012c. WIN8.1 64-bit Never had these problems before: In the middle of playback some staves get "stuck" and keep holding the same note(s) until Finale is closed. Or, while playing, inexplicably starts to play from another spot, on top of the current playback. And BTW: is it possible to prevent arpeggio-ing of every pizzicato chord in the strings? Really annoying! Thanks for your help! This happens to me when two instruments are sharing the same MIDI channel and they hit the same note at the same time. The answer (for me) was to give them a separate channel each. > And BTW: is it possible to prevent arpeggio-ing of every pizzicato chord > in the strings? Really annoying! This sounds like a Human Playback issue. Thanks Peter; But, it isn't the case. String quartet; each instrument on its own channel (1 -4); and - out of nowhere - it starts playing from some other spot on top of the current playback #$%^&*! Re: [Finale] PLAYBACK ISSUES
I had this problem a while ago, but I can't remember the fix. Call tech support - they sorted it out with me, no problems. We ran a couple of tests and they had the answer. I just tried digging through my old emails, but I can't find the relevant ones, sorry. Phil. At 06:41 PM 4/5/2014, you wrote: >Thanks Peter; > >But, it isn't the case. Thanks; will do that. I also remember it being mentioned on the List, and am sure that I have saved the answer, but can't find it now.
