[Finale] Size Matters
Another interesting problem. WinFin06. I'm beggining to work with a score in Page View, after entering the parts in Scroll. I'm attempting to find the best size for the score on the page, working with % tool. At 100% all is well, but the score is too small for the page. When I enlarge to 125% the first dozen or so pages are fine, but the last 20 (original) pages of the score now show up in one measure pages (one mm. to a page) ballooning the score to over 250 pages! I've removed all optimizing, page locks, etc., but the problem persists. When I reset the size to 100%, the pages return to the normal number. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Bruce E. Make sure System Locks are off (you didn't mention them), respace if necessary, then Update Layout, while on an earlier page (because Update Layout only applies to the page you are on until the end.) Update Layout occurs automatically by default, but sometimes you need to do it. Christopher ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Thanks, everyone. I had removed system locks and updated layout (from page 1), which I should have mentioned. I redid both processes to confirm that I had done them before and the problem persists. I normally use 80% for performance materials (i.e., extracted parts) but many folks use 75%. For scores my default is likewise 80%, but I almost always have to make it smaller, sometimes down to 60% Andrew Stiller Kallisti Music Press http://www.kallistimusic.com/ ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Re: [Finale] Size Matters
Is it possible that there is so much music in the measures that normal spacing fills an entire line? I know that sometimes I put the lyric through onto a sixteenth note and that causes the whole measure to expand. If you had to, you could select a measure in Mass Edit and hit the up arrow to force it onto the previous system. I often manually lay out pages like this. Send me the file privately and I'll take a look, if all else fails. Christopher On Aug 22, 2007, at 11:30 PM, Bruce E. Clausen wrote: Thanks, everyone. Force update used to be Opt+Update long time ago, and I have been wondering what happen to it. It is now Shift+Update? I don't understand. In Mac GUI, Opt will modify menu item by its Guideline. Shift key has no function for that. I often question why Finale has to change key command on every upgrade path.
