Re: [Finale] Staff question
Create the examples you want in Finale, forget about getting it to appear in a document. Select the graphics tool (it's in the advanced tools palette, in case you do not have that appear in your set-up). Double click at a corner and drag a rectangle including the music you wish to copy into a word document. Go to the graphics pull-down and select "Export Selection" [If you want to export a whole page, do not bother dragging a rectangle around it, just go straight to graphics pull-down and "Export Page"]. Set resolution to 600 dpi and save it where you want, then in WORD, insert picture. You can resize it and position it as you want. Re: [Finale] Staff question
hey patsy, your topline distance is the distance between the top stafflines of 2 adjacent (vertically) staves. if your value is 0 you are laying a new staff directly over the existing one. if your measurement units are set to EVPUs try a value of 275 or 300. but your best bet is probably the setup wizard, where you can select predefined ensembles that will include the standard clef for those instruments in your chosen ensemble. this is the way to go if you want the whole list of orchestra ranges on one page. if you are instead simply trying to make the same generic document for each musician with a grand staff (treble and bass, like piano), in your one-staff document, open the score manager (cmd-k on mac) and set the instrument to piano (no staff name), under the keyboards section. if none of this helps, you might want to upload a scan of a handwritten version of what you are aiming for. cheers, jef ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
Re: [Finale] Staff question
Hi Patsy, If I'm understanding your post correctly, it seems to me that the easiest option is to copy a bar (or few) into a word document, which can be done as often as you want. On a mac I would open finale and create a system of however many lines, bars and clefs I wanted within the margins I want. Then open Preview, click command-3 drag the cross-hair to capture those bars and copy-paste them into the word document of the questionnaire. If you are using windows I guess there is a similar way of doing this too. cheers, Ryszard _ On 24/08/2017, at 8:07 AM, Patsy Moore wrote: > Hello fellow Finale users, > > I'm using (i.e. still struggling intermittently with) Finale 2014. > > I've just been preparing a revised Questionnaire in Finale for new members > of my adult learners' orchestra. > > After 2 pages of assorted text I want to insert a short length of staff > with a clef, or possibly of them in different places, for people to fill in > their possible playing ranges, but so far have failed to do so. > > I've clicked "new blank staves" in the Staff tool. > > A little window opens saying: > Number of Staves 1 (can be changed, but I've left it as 1) > Topline to Topline Distance 1 (haven't worked out what that means but have > tried it as1 and as 0) > OK / Cancel / Help > > If I click OK, nothing happens. > > Helpful hints would be very welcome. :) > > Just off to bed in England > > Patsy > > -- > Patsy Moore AGSM ARCM > pa...@mooremusic.org.uk > Conductor, arranger etc. Da Capo (Do All Come And Play Orchestra) > and teaching accompanist > www.da-capo.org.uk > ___ > Finale mailing list > Finale@shsu.edu > https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale > > To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: > finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
[Finale] Staff question
Hello fellow Finale users, I'm using (i.e. still struggling intermittently with) Finale 2014. I've just been preparing a revised Questionnaire in Finale for new members of my adult learners' orchestra. After 2 pages of assorted text I want to insert a short length of staff with a clef, or possibly of them in different places, for people to fill in their possible playing ranges, but so far have failed to do so. I've clicked "new blank staves" in the Staff tool. A little window opens saying: Number of Staves 1 (can be changed, but I've left it as 1) Topline to Topline Distance 1 (haven't worked out what that means but have tried it as1 and as 0) OK / Cancel / Help If I click OK, nothing happens. Helpful hints would be very welcome. :) Just off to bed in England Patsy -- Patsy Moore AGSM ARCM pa...@mooremusic.org.uk Conductor, arranger etc. Da Capo (Do All Come And Play Orchestra) and teaching accompanist www.da-capo.org.uk ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
