[Finale] create mp3 files!
Have been using Finale since 2004. Currently use 2009b with Windows on a PC. In the past, up til a couple of months ago, I was able, and did in fact, create mp3 files of Finale files. Now, whilst feeling somewhat embarresed, I can no longer create mp3 files. Only wav. Files. What am I missing/doing wrong? Any help greatly appreciated. I was misled because the export to audio file option opens the save audio file as dialog box, at least on my installation. At the bottom of the save audio file as dialog box there are two radio buttons, to save as a WAV, or to save as an ~.mp3. I wondered if your ~.mp3 codec was somehow corrupted, so I went to the Finale support page, and consulted the Knowledgebase, and doing a search on your version of Finale, and the word Codec came up with the possible answer that it may be a result of what playback option you are using. In general, LAME is considered to be one of the best encoders, and there are lots of free apps which use LAME to do encoding. (Including Max.) [Finale] Create MP3 Files.
To those of you who paused in their lives to look at my problem, creating MP3 files, thank you, very much. The problem was solved when I ticked the 'Midi' play back ,instead of 'Vst' playback, under the 'Midi/Audio' menu. This in turn allowed the 'Save as Audio' box with the necessary radio buttons, to appear when I used the 'Export as Audio File' command under the File menu. (I wonder what VST stands for!!).
