Re: [Finale] dis-/reappearing tempo markings

found a solution that seems to work, even after closing and reopening
a doc several times.

select check all staves in the score list dialogue and uncheck top
staff for the part.

Re: [Finale] dis-/reappearing tempo markings

2009-10-06 Thread Jonathan Smith

You're not alone!

I also cannot seem to get on with the new system for staff lists in
2009, they seem to have a mind of their own. The option for 'show on
top staff' does not work, especially when used in conjunction with a
score and parts in the same file. The tempo expressions just don't
appear on the top stave of the part even though it is checked. I need
to check mark them all to get it to work. I have lost a lot of time
and made some serious errors because of this. Finale 07/08 never gave
me a problem in this area, what you put in was what you got in the
part. It also plays up if you add staves after you have set up score
expressions (tempo markings).

I don't know if I'm alone on this one either, but has anyone else
noticed unusual things happening with playbacks in finmac09.

For instance, I get phantom 'hidden' notes (little groups of 32 or
64th notes) added in various staves for no reason, and whenever I set
up a rall. or rit. to playback with a shape assignment it seems to go
horribly wrong, something which I have done perfectly well in
hundreds of files previously. In fact, it appears that if I set up a
playback shape and then return to open the file later the playback
gets all messed up, some ralls turning into a complete slow down to a
hold. The only solution is to make them so fine in tempo reduction
that they just about work. Any old file updated or clipped in just
messes up completely. I also seem to have a lot of similar shapes
appear in the selection box.

Has anyone also had this problem: You are putting in artics, accents,
staccs, etc by clicking them in or drag clicking (while holding down
the metatool) and then all of a sudden finale freezes - spinning
beach ball of death - and then finale crashes. It usually happens
when I go from clicking them in individually to drag-metatooling them
or vice-versa, and if I change layer between these actions it is
guaranteed to crash finale.

It's better to know if I am not the only one suffering!

Jonathan

[Finale] dis-/reappearing tempo markings

2009-10-05 Thread shirling neueweise

i can't figure this one out (2010). i'm cleaning upo the parts of an
orch score and 2 of the 3 temp markings in the score (all stored in
the tempo marks category) are not showing on some new parts. fl1 and
2 were ok (all instr. separate staves in score), then fl3 was missing
them. i checked obs and clars and they were missing there as well.
fl1 and 2 were still ok (the tempos in question have been moved in
the parts).

went to check/edit the staff list in the category/positioning window,
everything seemed fine, checked fl3 in the pt column... and the thing
reappearedc everywhere.

then i reset the staff list to top of SC / top of PT, everything
still seemed fine. now i'm in the obs and the trhing has disappeared
again

any ideas? or is this just (another goddamn) bug?

This was happening to me in 2009 if I recall. But only randomly, and only
in one particular file.

It is worrying.

i seem to remember hearing somewhere that it might be related to time
sig attached expressions... i'll change them tomorrow to left barline
attached and see if that works.

This was happening to me in 2009 whenever I removed measures, but
only on certain categories of expressions. If I remember correctly,
it was tempo marks and tempo changes. I never got the reason (time
sig?) but your fix worked (except I had to re-adjust all markings I
had nudged!)

I haven't seen it yet in 2010, but I haven't been removing measures,
either.
