Re: [Finale] Cannot create some multi measure rests in parts
Girard, and all: Steve Fiskum messaged me privately and offered to look at the file. The sections of the piece that were not fixed by Girard's tip turned out to have errors on my part - real whole rests or “Break a Multimeasure Rest” in a staff that had been hidden. I will share this tip of his: "If you ever want to check your “Break a Multimeasure Rest” make a blank dummy instrument staff on a duplicate file and create the blank part to see where MM’s break." Thanks, all! All better now! Raymond, you might go through the process again. Sometimes it takes more than one pass to fix – I’ve no idea why. I’m glad that this was at least partially helpful! It’s not often that I can be as helpful as some of our listmates. Re: [Finale] Cannot create some multi measure rests in parts
Ray, Please try this: 1. Open the problematic part and determine which layer the rests are in. 2. Apply a staff style BLANK NOTATION WITH RESTS to the PART ONLY. Apply it to the layer containing the problematic rests ONLY. 3. Try to create the MM Rest. This works 100% of the time when I do voiced linked parts with voice 1 playing and voice 2 resting & vice-versa. Jim James C. Voiced linked Parts? I do not believe so. I hope I don't have to do all that Giovanni describes, as I am almost done with these parts, but I may have to try it. Thank you! Re: [Finale] Cannot create some multi measure rests in parts
It occurred to me a few times as well and - in one case - I discovered I had been working on a file which was a saved copy of another, completely different one which included many multi-measure rests, and used for the ready format, which included all ready set linked parts. Breaking multi-measure rests from within the score not always reflected in the linked parts and, at the end, I set a new document from scratch, broke the multi-measure rests in the score and finally copy-pasted it in the new file. At that point, all multi-measure rests where consistent trough all linked parts. Of course, I had to put up with the fuss of formatting the new document, parts included.
