Sure -- open a bunch of new files and the old ones will drop off the
list.

No, seriously, you can control the number of files which appear in this
list by going to Edit | Program Options | Open.

Also, you don't say whether you're on Mac or Win, but on Windows the
names of the files in this list are stored in the registry at
HKCU\Software\Makemusic\Finale2009\Finale\Recent File List. (Use your
current version of Finale in place of 'Finale2009'.) You could go there
and delete the entries under that key.

I would just be happy if it WORKED on the Mac version! I'm still in
2005b and when I switched my OS to Tiger, for some reason the "Open
Recent" totally quit working. Calls to Finale's support line were to
no avail :(

I'm hoping it will start working again when I go ahead and upgrade to
2007...

Anyone else have this happen?!!

It's in WinFin2006, certainly it's the same in Mac.

I don't if there is a limit...
There may not be a limit to the number of files that can be included in
the recent files list, but in at least some versions, no matter how many
files are included in excess of 16, only the first sixteen can be opened
by selecting the file in the list.

In WinFin, this is under Options | Program Options | Open, Number of
Recent Files. Is it the same in Mac?

In Windows the list is stored in the Registry under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
CodaMusic
Finale2005
FINALE
Recent File List

You may be able to simply delete the entries but I have heard so many
warnings about editing the Registry that I will leave it to you to try!

Try selecting options > program options > advanced, and setting the
value to zero. After clicking OK, shut down the program, to save the
preference, then repeat the process resetting the value to whatever
value is desired.
