Re: [Finale] Playback Issue
Go into document options - layers - find the layer that has cues (I think it's 3 but Im not certain) and un-check playback This is how it works in WinFin2006 - it must be something similar in later versions? I tried closing and opening again. I also saved the music to a new document. It still will playback using one tempo only. Might this be a bug? It is most likely that you have an expression that has its Playback set to a certain value at the start of the piece. This expression will override whatever is set in the Playback window. I have run into problems in the past when I have taken my Allegro expression and duplicated it in order to clone expressions with similar font and positioning, not realising that i was also duplicating its playback! Then I was wondering why every time the trumpets put in a cup mute the playback reverted to Q=120. Christopher ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

You might also check the options in Playback Controls. Twirl down the disclosure triangle, click playback options and try reset or use current settings. -Carolyn On 8/7/07, A-NO-NE Music [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Will Denayer / 2007/08/07 / 11:47 AM wrote: There is another problem. Andrew Stiller wrote: FinMac 2K7a. I have a piece for four recorders, which I got from someone else who uses an earlier version of Finale. After updating, the instrument window shows the following choice of instruments: Recorder, Instrument 2, Instrument 3, and Instrument 4. All are assigned to different channels, and each is assigned the sound GM 75--recorder. However, on playback only Instrument 4 plays back with an appropriate sound. All the others play back with a grand piano sound. I have done much experimenting (changing channel numbers, assigning related timbres [such as panpipes], etc.) but nothing works. All four parts, apparently, must be assigned to Instrument 4 and nothing else. That would be OK if I could only send the individual parts to different channels, but I can't. What's going on here, and what should I do about it? I would look for expressions defined for playback, which may have been defined as patch change, all set to patch 1. Whoever you got the file from may have simply copied an existing expression and then edited it for something new. I'd suggest looking in the first measure, since the sounds start from the beginning. Alternatively, possibly go into the Playback Options, More Options and be sure to UNcheck the box labeled Play Recorded Data. -- David H.
