Re: [Finale] adding transpositions
Hi John, Yes, I can transpose - I'm a horn player - do it every day of my life! :-) It's remembering the formula to put into Finale that stretches my poor addled brain. (It's - Interval: 6 Key Alter: -2) I know that now, but by the time I do it again I'll have forgotten and have to look it up. Being able to add it to the list would be so much easier and allow my limited number of brain cells to concentrate on more important things like breathing, it's not just a question of how many clicks. Then just put it up an octave: -1 up 7 steps is 6. Or you can invest in a post-it for your monitor. g Aaron. ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Even easier: find the alto sax settings and duplicate them. Add 1 to the transposition interval, click the Chromatic Transposition radio button and you're home free. You can add them to the file instruments.txt, in the Component Files folder. To be clear, what this does is make Horn in D available as an instrument in the Setup Wizard, with the correct transposition. It does not make that transposition available as a general option in the staff tool transposition dialog. This may accomplish what Lawrence wanted for new scores, although it doesn't help with existing ones. I believe the answer to Lawrence's specific question is no, you can't add new items to the list in the transposition dialog.
