[Fink-devel] where is perl581-core?

2005-05-28 Thread Randal L. Schwartz

I'm currently outdated because I'm missing "perl581-core", as indicated below:

The package 'shared-mime-info' will be built and installed.
The package 'intltool' will be downloaded as a binary package and installed.
The package 'xml-parser-pm581' will be downloaded as a binary package and
installed.
WARNING: While resolving dependency "perl581-core" for package
"xml-parser-pm581-2.34-14", package "perl581-core" was not found.
WARNING: While resolving dependency "perl581-core" for package

Failed: Can't resolve dependency "perl581-core" for package
"xml-parser-pm581-2.34-14" (no matching packages/versions found)
Information about 2181 packages read in 1 seconds.

So, who broke the tree? Why is there a dependency on something that
cannot exist?

Supposing you are running Panther, perl581-core is a virtual package
representing your /usr/bin/perl which is version 5.8.1 by default. If
you run "fink-virtual-pkgs", you should see a "Package: system-perl"
that "Provides" perl581-core".

I have no idea... let's find him... ;)

Seriously: Could you give us some more information? Are you on 10.3 or
on 10.4? What do you get from 'fink list perl5'?

On 10.3 you should get a line that says:
p perl581-core [virtual package]
Do you get that?

Chris.

[Fink-devel] molmol package fixed

2005-05-28 Thread William Scott
I've fixed the molmol packaging problem that caused the build failure
for Koen. He kindly tested the fix, so I have put it in the unstable
trees for both 10.4 and 10.3. It currently depends on glut.

I've taken the problematic molmol info file out of 10.3 stable.

I'm hoping to move molmol back into stable (at least on 10.4) once
I'm convinced there are no residual problems. (I cleaned up the
packaging script and created a patch file, but the net result is that
there should be no changes in the build process apart from making it
more robust, and there should be no changes at all in the executable).

Since glut is in stable, but freeglut is not, I wonder if the
simplest thing is to have molmol in stable depend on glut for now and
then have molmol in unstable depend on freeglut, and when and if
freeglut is moved to stable, have molmol just depend on that.

Thanks,

Bill Scott
