[Fink-devel] [Fwd: [Fink-beginners] Re: volume does not support symlinks]
Forwarding this to -devel so that someone can fix the news item (Alex?) This should really be mentioned on the home page. You *need* to be logged in as an admin user in order to run the new Fink installer. Original Message Subject: [Fink-beginners] Re: volume does not support symlinks Date: Thu, 30 Jun 2005 00:40:34 + (UTC) From: Tony Meyer [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: fink-beginners@lists.sourceforge.net [Martin Costabel] Right. Based on the permissions of /, the Installer can only work when the user who is logged in is in the group admin. By logged in, I mean to the Finder (there's no way to use su or sudo to alter the user who effects the Installer). [Daniel E. Macks] Ah, OK, so this solves the mystery. This is also a bug IMHO. The installer should only do privileged things *after* it switches to admin mode by requiring the password. It should not require anyone to be logged in at the console as admin user (although most people do, otherwise this error would have been much more widespread). Is there anyone reading this that has access to modify http://fink.sf.net/index.html? It would be great if a note could be added to the note that's already there about repairing permissions that explains that you have to be logged in in this way. (I also hit this problem, and repairing permissions didn't help at all, but this fix did. But not all beginners will know enough to be able to find this message that explains it). [Fink-devel] configure errors: conftest is a directory
Hello all. I have a user on tiger who is getting the following error trying to build octave-forge: checking for ANSI C header files... rm: conftest: is a directory rm: conftest: is a directory rm: conftest: is a directory rm: conftest: is a directory This happens in multiple places, and then when the build starts none of the libraries were actually found. I can't replicate the problem (but I don't have Tiger, so that's no surprise). I googled around looking for clues, but the only thing I could find were references to using an old version of f77 on NetBSD on non-i386 machines. I'm confuzzled. Does anyone know what might be causing this? crh --- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. [Fink-devel] Fink Build Report (including Intel)
New Fink build reports are available at: http://fink.opendarwin.org/build/2005-06-24/out/report.html http://fink.opendarwin.org/build/2005-06-24.intel/out/report.html I've also published a comparison between the powerpc run and my previous run: http://fink.opendarwin.org/build/2005-06-24/compare-0601.html And a comparison between PowerPC and Intel: http://fink.opendarwin.org/build/2005-06-24/compare-intel.html I filed a radar for the Intel ICE. Don't know if I'm going to have time to do much analysis of these results, I'm pretty busy with non-Fink stuff for at least the next month. --- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM.
