Quick update.

I've emailed JW with regards to the SuiteSparse package, which has been
placed on the Tracker. I've recommended that the dependency for
SuiteSparse be added to Octave.

I see, that's good to know. What's the package name for that so I can update my
packages that now use x11 ? I didn't see a virtual package for x11.

BTW, when I start Apple's X11 (10.5) nothing happens, anyone else seen this?

thanks,

This just happened with fink-0.27.9 [installed this morning]. This
happens in unstable.

dhcp13:~ chunky$ fink install libdjvulibre15-shlibs
Information about 6125 packages read in 0 seconds.
The following package will be installed or updated:

dpkg-deb -b

I don't think it's relevant, but this error appears a whole bunch of
times during configure:

rm: conftest.dSYM: is a directory

Finally, this is the actual linker error with the line that caused it:

Thanks. That's a known error that we've been having to fix in
packages as it shows up.

I'll cc the maintainer, to make sure he is aware of the issue with this package.

[Fink-devel] nspr compile failure on 10.5.. spot the problem

2007-11-07 Thread Philip Lamb

Hi all,

I am posting this here as I haven't heard from the maintainer (Ben
Reed) and I need to sort it out. nspr-4.6.6-1 fails to build on
10.5/9A581 (Intel). This is on a clean install of the OS and with a
clean fink install (bootstrapped from 0.27.8).

The error is "/usr/include/signal.h:84: error: syntax error before
numeric constant". Line 84 of signal.h is "int pthread_kill
(pthread_t, int);" so I'm a bit baffled to say the least!

Relevant section of build log follows...

Regards,
Phil.

If your apple is fully installed, you should see the virtual for it,
just like on 10.4.

Do you still have the fink xorg or xfree86 installed by any chance?
That would stop Fink from looking for Apple's...

Apple's X11 is radically different now; apps can be started right from
the terminal and the X server autolaunches through launchd.

Ah, yah, thanks for the pointer. I just updated nspr and spidermonkey
in my experimental, and it at least builds on leopard, so I'll go ahead
and release them. :)

Can you please post the error here? Unfortunately, the wiki page
doesn't have it (presumably because it was written while we were still

This is the same error being reported for firefox1.5 (in its internal
NSPR process)

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.os.apple.fink.beginners/20464

Check the patch that's here
, as well as the
configure{.in} patches that are discussed in the last comment of that
bug. That _might_ (extra emphasis on that word) take care of the issue.
From the bug, I think 4.6.8 will have it fixed, but that's hasn't been
released yet.

[Fink-devel] geant4.9-cernlib-gfortran needs the libGL re-export fix

2007-11-07 Thread Adam Kocoloski
Hi Remi, all,

Just thought I'd point out one package in the stable tree that slipped
by with the libGL linking bug. I get errors like

Creating shared library /Volumes/STAR/mit/fink/10.5/i386/src/
fink.build/geant4.9-cernlib-gfortran-4.9.0-11/geant4.9.0/lib/Darwin-g+
+/libG4UIcommon.dylib ...
ld: cycle in dylib re-exports with /usr/X11R6//lib/libGL.dylib
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

when linking the following dylibs

libG4UIcommon.dylib
libG4FR.dylib
libG4visHepRep.dylib
libG4visXXX.dylib
libG4RayTracer.dylib

I was also prompted to answer the following question twice at the
beginning of the installation:

> You have selected to use XM Motif based user interfaces.
> But XM Motif was not found in expected place.
> Please specify the correct path where Xm is installed in your system.
>
> You can set '-' (without quotation) to CANCEL the XM flag at all:
