Re: [Fink-devel] openjade-1.3.2-1034 fails to install in os x 10.6 under fink?
Dear Alexander Hansen - Thank you kindly for your response. The command sudo fink install openjade leads to several warnings about, e.g.: warning: "SP_DEFINE_TEMPLATES" redefined warning: this is the location of the previous definition etc. I'm not sure if these are significant or not. The fatal error follows: /sw/include/OpenSP/InternalInputSource.h:37: error: extra qualification 'OpenSP::InternalInputSource::' on member 'asInternalInputSource' make[2]: *** [DssslSpecEventHandler.lo] Error 1 rm InterpreterMessages.cxx make[1]: *** [style] Error 2 make: *** [all] Error 2 ### execution of make failed, exit code 2 [For more info, see the snippet of the info printed to the screen at the bottom of this email.] The error occurs during the install of the 32-bit version of fink (recently, reinstalled from scratch) on a 2009 (64 bit) Macbook Pro, but a similar error occurs on a 2007 (32 bit) Macbook Pro and a 2006 Mac Mini, all running up-to-date versions of os x 10.6, X11, Xcode, dev-tools, etc. Please let me know if there is anything in particular that you need to know about the machine configuration to further diagnose - as it's happening on all three machines my lab has tried it on, and has been going on for a few weeks now, I had hoped that this was a fairly common problem that y'all would already be aware of (sorry - that assumption appears to be wrong). Thanks heaps for any help you can provide. cheers, - Tom ps - A more complete snippet of the screen output during the failed build follows: g++ -O2 -I. -I./../include -I./../grove -I./../spgrove -I/sw/include/OpenSP -I/sw/include/OpenSP/.. [Fink-devel] openjade-1.3.2-1034 fails to install in os x 10.6 under fink?
Help? For the last 5 years, my students and I at UCSD have used fink to install a lot of software that we need frequently on our macs. We have been quite pleased with the capabilities that fink enables. There has been one persistent bug over the last few weeks that we can't seem to resolve. After switching most of our computers over to os x 10.6 and not being able to do a fink self-update on them, we have cleared out /sw and started from scratch on a few machines. We can't install some essential packages (like imagemagick) on any of these machine because openjade-1.3.2-1034 fails to install. Is there something that we are doing wrong, or any simple workarounds? Thanks heaps! - Tom -- Come build with us! Adrian Prantl wrote: [] > + IFS=';' This is the reason why it breaks. On 10.6, the configure script gets the weird idea that the path separator is ';' instead of ':'. It has a funny test for this, and this test behaves differently on 10.5 and on 10.6. It is the line PATH=".;."; conftest.sh Here conftest.sh is a trivial script in the current directory. On 10.5, it gives the error message ../dist/configure[1123]: conftest.sh: not found [No such file or directory] whereas on 10.6, it passes without error, inducing configure to believe that ';' is a valid path separator. This is how far I got. I don't understand why this behaves differently on 10.5 and 10.6, but I don't even understand why this should be a valid test (which it is not, evidently). Enjoy it! - libkpathsea4.info (3.5.7-1, update) - texlive-texmf.info (0.20080822-1, new) - texlive.info (0.20080816-1, new) For users: One way to switch from teTeX to TeX Live is as follows: $ fink remove -r tetex-texmf (take a memo of all packages that will be removed) $ fink install texlive Then re-install the packages that were removed. That's it. Notice that the following packages breqn, chess-tex, cm-super, ctan-other-misc, ctan-support, ed-misc, enumitem, feynmf, ha-prosper, ifmslide, latex-beamer, latex-figbib, movie15, pdfscreen, pdfslide, pdfsync, pgf, powerdot, ppower4, prosper, srcltx, texpower, tipa, unicode-tex, xcolor, xkeyval are not needed since texlive-texmf now provides these packages. For developers: If you want to specify the dependency on TeX Live, use "Depends: texlive-base". At the present time, "Depends: tetex-base" or "Depends: tetex3-base" also works, but it might be disabled in the future. [TeX macro packages] The packages listed above are now provided by TeX Live, but you can still update the packages by installing files into /sw/share/texmf (or /sw/etc/texmf.local). The order of priority of the texmf tree is: 1. /sw/etc/texmf.local (local tree, symlinked from /sw/share/texmf-local) 2. /sw/share/texmf (for Fink packages) 3. /sw/share/texmf-dist (for TeX Live) You are kindly requested to avoid the case that older version packages than in TeX Live are installed in the tree 1. or 2. If this is the case, users are forced to use the older ones. [Other TeX utility packages] Some utilities that already exist in Fink, for example texi2html, texinfo, jadetex, xetex, dvidpfmx, are not compiled by --without-pkg configure options. But if you like, texlive-base can provide these packages. Other requests are welcome; please send a patch with your explanation. Best regards, Tomoaki Okayama -- Come build with us!
