[Fink-users] gnomemeeting in 10.3

2004-01-09 Thread Jim Hickstein
I got gnomemeeting going on my 10.2 machine, but a friend with 10.3 (on his
new 17-inch AlBook) reports that it doesn't build there; doesn't even
appear there. I hate the very idea of divulging my identity to .Mac so I
can use iChatAV. Any joy on this?

[Fink-users] GNOME 2.4 has been added to the unstable 10.3 Tree

2004-01-09 Thread Darian Lanx
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: RIPEMD160
Fink is proud to announce the availability of GNOME 2.4 in the unstable
trees for Mac OS X 10.3
This major step brings a major update to the GNOME Desktop Suite and its
associated programs.

The GNOME 2.4 Desktop is the latest release of the popular,
multi-platform free desktop environment.

GNOME 2.4 expands the offerings of the popular free software desktop,
with a new web browser based on the most standards-compliant rendering
engine available, improved accessibility tools, a number of new
applications to make day-to-day desktop use easier and a continued
commitment to creating a computing environment that "just works".

GNOME 2.4 includes 11 new applications and more than 100 user-requested
enhancements.

GNOME runs on a variety of platforms, including GNU/Linux (commonly
called Linux), Solaris, HP-UX, BSD and Apple's Darwin.

GNOME tries to avoid unnecessary complications or obscure features,
sticking instead to a clear, unified vision of a usable, powerful desktop.

a) Based on gtk+2
b) Greatly improved Nautilus
c) New blackjack game.
For a detailed list of all the new features and changes see:
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.4/notes/rnwhatsnew.html
Updating or Installing GNOME

If you have unstable already enabled and you are upgrading from a
previous GNOME install, please follow these instructions:
Make sure you have ran fink selfupdate then execute
fink install bundle-gnome

If you are not using unstable yet, please follow the detailed
instruction here on how to enable unstable:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php#unstable
Then execute fink selfupdate and afterwards fink install bundle-gnome"

Should you come across any issues with this release, please make sure
that you notify [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Notes:
We've included a nice gtk2 theme called Panther that mimics 10.3's widgets.
 Caveats:
 * nautilus-cd-burner won't burn cds it will just create isos for you.
 * gnomemeeting isn't there yet were waiting for pwlib to be updated by
 the maintainer.
 * Some Linux specific applets are disabled.
 * gpdf and ggv don't display fonts inside documents

[Fink-users] OpenMotif3 Problem?

2004-01-09 Thread Mitchell Turner
I am trying to compile SND from CCRMA which uses Openmotif3. I
downloaded Openmotif3 version 2.2.2-5 loaded with fink. While
compiling SND, there is an error that says:

/sw/include/Xm/Ext.h:19:27: Xm/XmStrDefsI.h: No such file or directory

I looked at Ext.h and it does wish to include XmStrDefsl.h, but that
file is not in my distribution of Openmotif3. Should that file be
included? If so, where can I get it?

Thanks for your time,
Mitch

[Fink-users] Can't coax x11-ssh-askpass to be run by ssh

2004-01-09 Thread Skip Montanaro

I'm running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 as installed by fink on Mac OS X 10.2.8 from an
xterm. In certain situations I'd like to prompt for a password using
x11-ssh-askpass, but I can't seem to coax it to do so. I have these
environment variables set:

DISPLAY=:0.0
SSH_ASKPASS=/Users/skip/local/libexec/x11-ssh-askpass

and if I execute $SSH_ASKPASS it runs the program. "strings -a" shows there
is an SSH_ASKPASS string in the ssh executable. I've tried the following
variants:

ssh host
ssh -n host
ssh -n host http://www.musi-cal.com/submit.html

You may well not have /sw/fink/dists/local/main on your system--you're
free to create this directory if you want.

[Fink-users] sshd problem with openssh-3.6.1p1-4

2004-01-09 Thread Alexander K. Hansen

OS 10.3.2

I switched over from the builtin sshd to that provided by Fink. The
latter rejects my username/password. I checked the archives and there
were a couple of threads on -devel from last November (in one of which
I was a correspondent!) where this was mentioned.

Has anybody come up with a workaround? I have already set up a
CRAM-MD5 password file for my IMAP server, but this password also
bombs.

Take a look at the faq's point 4.24

Here is descriped what you should do next.

And you can edit fink.conf with any editor you like and add the
local/main tree to it if it still doesn't appear after a "fink
scanpackages".

Eric Hoch
