Yes, melina Depends on gcc43 and will perhaps Depend on gcc44 in the
future (once I have had the time to make tests). It needs at runtime the
same version of gfortran with which it was built itself, and I don't
know how to ensure this without usng the Depends: field.

I am normally opposed to putting all runtime requirements into the
Depends: field. The users can be asked to install some packages
themselves if they want to have the corresponding functionality. But in
this case, the fortran compiler really needs to be the same version.

I've just upgraded to a new machine and therefore to 10.5.

What has taken the place of XDarwin? I'll take a look at Xquartz.

If you're on 10.4 or earlier, XDarwin.app was the display server that
came with XFree86 or the X.org server (Fink's xfree86 or xorg packages)

What OS X version are you running? You should find an X11 installer
package on your OS install media. If you’re running OS 10.5, you may
want to install Xquartz instead:

Actually, I found one thing that needs updating anyways; and I have an
idea of something that might help.

Try a selfupdate in 15 minutes or so, I've put out a redland 1.0.8-4
release, see if that helps.

Ah, ok, 'cause I couldn't find anything wrong in the package (couldn't

Hope that fixes it, 'cause I've got nuthin'. :)

This type of error is usually caused by having BDB installed in /usr/
local which is a different version from Fink's. What do you get for
"ls -l /usr/local/include/db*"? If you get anything, try renaming /usr/

Well damn, didn't mean to actually commit that one along with a sweep
of unmaintained and gnome stuff:( Sorry! You want I should undo it?

Re: [Fink-users] Failed: phase compiling: gcc44-4.3.999-20090327 failed

2009-04-15 Thread Dominique Dhumieres
Hi,

I don't know what caused this failure on intel OSX 10.5.6, but
gcc44-4.3.999-20090407 built fine on ppc(G5)/intel(Core2Duo) OSX 10.5.6
and ppc(G4) OSX 10.4.11.

A few comments:

gcc44 conflicts with malina;
obj(c|-c++) is broken on 10.5;
libjava works with multilib on intel (but -m64 is broken on ppc).

I have also a request: would it be possible to package the gcc4* in such
a way that the directories bin, include, libexec, and share are kept
when switching from one version to another one (e.g. through gcc4*-bin
packages)? The different packages conflict only through the symbolic
links in /sw/bin (and the doc?) and replacing one package by another one
takes a noticeable time on slow machines whih is annoying in the transient
regime where some packages use gcc4x and others gcc4x+1.

Thanks for the work,

Sorry for not reacting to this earlier.

Anyway: No, I don't think I am the one who needs to fix the issue, and
don't feel responsible. According to the CVS logs, it was Daniel Macks
who moved the newer slrn to stable on 2009/03/19.

Right now, I can't find any notice about this in my inbox either,
despite the very explicit disclaimer in all of my .info files :-(. So,
I'll wait now to hear what Daniel has to say.

Bye,
Max
