Is there any severe issue about these packages that prevent them from being available? What I mean is: are they on their way or it's better to look for something else? And what about SciPy? It's missing too... and I miss it... ;-) There seem to be problems with some of the dependencies rather than scipy itself. I actually managed to get around it by copying the .debs from a 10.2 installation into my /sw/fink/10.3/local tree, then grabbed the old scipy info and patch, and built that in my local tree. Tracing that back, the critical dependencies then were reportlab-py23 and f2py-py23. reportlab is in 10.3 now, and the only remaining issue with f2py appears to be that it requires gcc 3.1 to build. After doing 'gcc_select 3', I've been able to rebuild f2py from the 10.2 info file, and then with 'gcc_select 3.3' rebuilt scipy. I've been using scipy on Panther fairly regularly, though not extensively (mostly limited to the interpolate routines), and didn't run into any trouble yet. Seems that gri has the same problems, it also built successfully after selecting gcc 3, whereas with Python-Biggles apparently it's a python versioning problem. After modifying the info file to use (e.g.) python2.3, that package also built without further trouble (see below). I've run the Biggles examples from their website, and they work fine - nice package indeed, I might come to use that as alternative/addition to gnuplot-py :-). I guess the gcc_select could be incorporated into the f2py/gri build process, if that's the only obstacle. [Fink-users] Missing packages.
Hi, I was looking for some packeges I need for data visualization, namely Gri and Python-Biggles, and I noticed that they are both unavailable under 10.3 tree. Is there any severe issue about these packages that prevent them from being available? What I mean is: are they on their way or it's better to look for something else? And what about SciPy? It's missing too... and I miss it... ;-) Thanks in advance, Andrea. --- Andrea Riciputi Science is like sex: sometimes something useful comes out, but that is not the reason we are doing it -- (Richard Feynman) --- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity. It's possible that sketch got added later, and since you haven't been able to selfupdate your system doesn't know about it yet. -- Alexander K. I tried a selfupdate-cvs through FinkCommander, it worked fine and now I have 3027 packages in my list. There are still many packages that are not yet available for Panther, for various reasons. But how do you know if a package is available for Panther? Shouldn't current-10.3-unstable in Fink's package database be the source for such information? How come I have sodipodi in my list but not sketch, since both are said to be available in current-10.3-unstable? Hervé \\ --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. Maybe, but I didn't have so much trouble with Fink 0.5.3 on Jaguar, for which I didn't need to use rsync. Fink Commander listed 2727 packages, whereas I have only 1675 with Fink 0.6.2 on Panther. [Fink-users] Missing packages + Logging into the CVS server failed
Hi all, I've just installed Fink 0.6.2 + FinkCommander 0.5.1 over a brand new MacOS 10.3.1, and have the following problems: 1. After enabling both the unstable and cryptography trees through FC's preferences, I miss some packages, e.g. - sodipodi (available in current-10.3-unstable and current-10.2-gcc3.3-unstable) is in FC's table, - sketch (available in the same trees) is not in FC's table. - other packages (e.g. epstool) are missing. 2. I've tried to run selfupdate, and after hitting Return after bieng prompted for the password for the anonymous CVS server I get the following message: cvs [login aborted]: connect to cvs.sourceforge.net:2401 failed: Connection refused ### execution of cvs failed, exit code 1 Failed: Logging into the CVS server for anonymous read-only access failed. I explained my issue on the FinkCommander-users list, and following Alexander Hansen's advice tried this: a. Ran fink selfupdate-rsync. I got the following error messages: - (...) [Fink-users] Missing Packages under Jaguar?
I recently installed fink following the guidelines for a new install under Jaguar and most things install without a problem... however, it appears that some packages have dependencies that don't exist in my package list... Specifically libpcap and xmame seem to be missing. When I try to install arpwatch or ethereal-ssl, I get the following: Information about 1261 packages read in 1 seconds. pkg ethereal version ### pkg ethereal version 0.9.6-1 WARNING: While resolving dependency libpcap for package ethereal-0.9.6-1, package libpcap was not found. Failed: Can't resolve dependency libpcap for package ethereal-0.9.6-1 (no matching packages/versions found) A similar message about xmame comes up when I try to install ckmame. Any thoughts? For the record, I followed the New Installation instructions for use under Jaguar and I ran a fink selfupdate-cvs right before sending this to see if libpcap or xmame had been added. -- Aaron Magill [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- In remembrance www.osdn.com/911/ ___ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users

Are you sure you got a similar message about xmame when installing ckmame, as ckmame doesn't depend on xmame and I have just installed ckmame fine under 10.2. Yes xmame hasn't made it across yet, there are still some issues compiling it under gcc3. Re: [Fink-users] Missing Packages under Jaguar?
Thanks for the update regarding libpcap... I'll compile it tonight and see how it works! Regarding ckmame, you appear to be correct -- I don't know what I was smoking, but none of the mame related packages (ckmame, gnomame, and grustibus) list xmame as a pre-requisite. I'll try recompiling again tonight and see what happens. This is because none of the mame related packages need xmame to actually build and run, I can build and run grustibus with no problems without xmame installed, just won't do much thats all. :) I have a package for xmame that compiles under 10.2 by forcing the use of gcc2, if you want a copy just email me privately. [Fink-users] missing packages like libungif
Hi, I've been trying for a few days to install some fink packages and a lot of them (gimp, gnome, sawfish, etc) require a gif library, but fink cannot seem to download libungif or giflib. I checked and ftp://prtr-13.ucsc.edu which is where fink is going, does not have them. I have also had problems trying to install lynx and mutt because either the site does not have them, or fink has the wrong path to them. How are these types of issues resolved? thanks, Stephen -- ___ __ That's where it ends-- / - \,,, Back there where I coughed. | ](#)#|:::[We'll note here: \___-__/``` Fade at cough. --Bob Dylan --- This sf.net email is sponsored by: OSDN - Tired of that same old cell phone? Re: [Fink-users] missing packages like libungif
You need to do a selfupdate-cvs: the problem has been corrected in the new .info files. [Fink-users] missing packages causes error in update all
I just added unstable/main to my tree, ran fink selfupdate-cvs and the fink update all. This failed on one of the packages efs-1.27. That's because the package does not exist on the remote server anymore, i.e. it has been upgraded, and the file name has changed. Is there a solution for this?
