I can confirm that the Max's patch from this morning fixed this problem
on my machine.

xmms now builds for me as well, on PPC.

[Fink-users] Re: XMMS Not Finding Plugins

2003-12-01 Thread Brian Haberman
I had the same problem a little while ago. I had posted here how I
solved it, but what I did was purge the xmms install. Then install it
from binaries (apt-get); It the worked. I never figured out what had
happened, but the binary install works. I have since done updates of
the app from source (I now included the unstable tree), and it all
still works.

I'm using the 10.3 stable of XMMS, or trying to, at any rate. It builds
and installs just fine, as near as I can tell. When I try to run it
though, it doesn't list any plugins (input and output included). Is
there something wrong with the configure? The plugins are all there in
the /sw/lib/xmms/ directory. Is that where they should be?

[Fink-users] Re: XMMS - again

2003-11-20 Thread Brian Haberman
Well, I removed xmms and installed it from the binaries via 'apt-get'
and it works. I am obviously very pleased I can now use XMMS again,
but still somewhat troubled it would not work when compiled from
source; not sure why?

Anyway, problem solved.

I had read the thread
(http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=6431462)
describing a problem where plugins were missing, and songs could not
be added to the playlist. I am having this same exact problem. I
have done a 'fink selfupdate' and 'fink update xmms', but there was
nothing to update, so I am still in the same situation

My fink version info:
Package manager version: 0.16.2
Distribution version: 0.6.2.cvs
And I am running OS X (10.3.1). I had also completely wiped out my
fink install then started over from scratch in Panther to avoid any
problems with unsupported apps, etc... I also, installed xmms from
source (fink install xmms), then rebuilt it just earlier incase there
was a problem the first time. Do I need to install from the binary as
someone might have mentioned?

Does anybody know how to get past this issue?

Thanks all,
Brian

[Fink-users] Re: Xmms

2003-11-02 Thread heath chrystall
Hi, I do not have Panther, but I do have a working current version of
xmms, which I installed from binary using apt-get.
perhaps a binary install might solve your problems (assuming you
installed from source), I also see on the fink website a suggestion to
only use the binary packages with panther until the source packages can
be upgraded
have you installed xmms-bin and xmms-shlib as well as xmms?

Also the .xmms/Plugins folder is for additional plugins such as the
dancing baby so should be empty on first install
