Libby show.....with the BIG BOYS !
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello List ! Thanks, everyone for the great time had at the Libby Mt. Fjord show ! You all out-did yourselves, and it was even better than when we made the trip in ' 97. The rain did not seem to slow up anything, and it really made the smoke from all the fires go away. Of course, it could have waited until we had practiced our green tandem hitch instead of deciding to POUR during all 20 min. of it ! All ended well though, the next day as the Unique Hitch class went off without a wreck. ( No minor deal as we were the most BORING hitch out there with a simple tandem ! ) All I can say is that the vidio tapes of this one class might be worth buying it ! I wanted to comment about the thread of everyone competing in classes together. Here in Utah, at least it seems we are able to go show and knock the socks off every judge and knock off most breeds too, BUT, it sure doesnt get my very competitive juices flowing ( WHO ME ? ) like when I enter the ring with people who I have read about, that are on the World Driving teams, or have always been strong contenders on International Driving circuits. Now THATS fun ! I am proud, as always when my horses do well, as in Blue Earth, finishing 1st in our driving classes, and winning Blues in the Evaluation..BUT, I can truely say that the 2nd place behind Ursula Jenson and the 3rd place behind Orville Unrue and Ron Pearson at Libby beats all of that. You cant learn or feel good about a win till you have been pushed and made to perform with the best out there. Spent some time with Anita and Orville at Blue Earth and Libby, and I can say that they are the most down to earth, friendly folks out there. ( Not to mention some of Orvilles storys of misbehavior while out showing with the REALLY BIG BOYS ) I recieved the nicest card from Brian and Ursula Jensen today with a beautiful picture of Jeff entering the ring at Libby with the tandem hitchthe ONLY picture to come out BTW without that ^%$%* chain link fence in the way !Now THATS class ! We were glad to meet you guys too ! Thanks for the compliments, and picture, guys. This is whats fun about showing with superior people.NOT about always winning, but the RIDE along the way. Speaking of class acts.Beth and Sandy at both shows were gracious, funny and always fun to be around. Beth, thanks for the compliments, but YOU were the biggest shock to me with your pair comming so far in such a short time ! Gave me a true run for the $$, and as Sandy said, we THREW down a gauntlet...and Beth picked it up and ran with it !Look for her to be hitting the CDE shows as well as Fjord breed ones, and with the way shes going. its gonna get fun ! ; ) * Before I forget, I want to say that I have NO IDEA what Cynthia, Beth or Michele are talking about. Hands in pockets ? Who...me ? GGG Dumpster diving ? You all need a vacation. Or maybe an increase in medication. ; ) Better fly for now, please try and make it to FJORD CHAT at PetsandVets tomorrow night, Sun. at 9 PM Eastern time, horse room # 1. A HREF=http://chat3.suresite.com/petsvets/vcclient/horsechat.html;HORSE CHAT ROOM/A Be good everyone ! Hope all's well and fun at Turlock ! Lisa Pedersen

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I just heard from Amy and Bud . Everybody is happy in Turlock. Amy is proud that Paradise's Taffeta took a 3rd in her first time ever at halter. There were 13 in the class. She was doing nicely because her mother's,( Olof's Christa) owner was there and tickled to see Taffy. Gayle, Peg and Catherine have been in the ribbon circle also. Amy's cell phone was not to clear so I will have more news when they come home. Bjorn-Knutson done well also but I don't know in what. I am just so happy to be Fjord owners. I am having fun with the foals. Dun Lookin' Silregn will go to her new home tomorrow and we have someone intrested in the gelding ssoo,we will be without babies till next year. It's been a long lonesome weekend without my guys here, Monday can't come fast enough. Tillie Bud Tillie Evers Dun Lookin' Fjords http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ridge/8589
Re: Fjord preparedness
This message is from: Jean Gayle [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ruthie, here in dry old Aberdeen, we had clear skies and at least 30degrees or colder last night. Inside windows were dripping wet and the horses and dog were in the sunshine warming when I got up. First frost and three weeks early. Gunnar the friendly one started his winter coat a month ago. but he is not at the Yak state quite yet. Maybe like the caterpillars, we have found a winter prediction item. Fjord preparedness
This message is from: Bushnell's [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Listers, we noticed at the Libby show that our Fjords were winter fuzzy already as compared to most all others that weren't. that weekend was our first cool weather (apologies from Montana) and because we had had such intensely hot temperatures up until then we wondered why they were suiting up already. well, two days ago we had snow flying through the air and last night it was sixteen degrees here! Uffda! =)) the snow never showed on the ground (it couldn't land! it flew straight through one way, then the other, on strong winds =) but there's snow capped peaks now and seems two months later than it actually is? but the fuzzy winter-donned Fjords were ready for this! how did they know? I'm going to keep an eye on them next fall and gauge my rose bush winterizing accordingly.. I may have lost some. the Fjords looked so snuggy in their fur coats this morning, while munching frost-coated grass, and yes, smug too! =)) Ruthie, NW MT http://www.libby.org/~bushnell

This message is from: Jean Gayle [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mike are you suggesting that Gunnar is hiding dapples under his now Yak like winter fur? What a terrible thing to say about a Grabb/Guldua get! This message is from: Jeannette Henson [EMAIL PROTECTED] still getting messages at e-mail Arthur Rivoire wrote: This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Arthur Rivoire) Hello from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia - We have three very good stallion prospects for sale. One I've been thrilled with from the day of his birth, second is thrilling me more each day, and the third is only a baby. However, he's very well bred, nice temperament, and a gorgeous mover! #1 - BDF QUASAR - 1 1/2 yr. old stallion - (Gjest x Holly - Solar daughter) Yearling stud colt. Quasar will be an excellent stalliion. I've known this from the beginning. He's impressive in every way - size, conformation, temperament. BLOODLINES: He's the product of the two highest rated, most proven stallions in North America, GJEST SOLAR.- It's important to know that both Gjest and Solar are old stallions - 23 years old. Old enough to have proven themselves as breeding stallions. Both were born in Norway and approved and proven there. Both Gjest and Solar were purchased by the Dutch Fjordhorse Studbook. Both stood in Holland for a number of years proving themselves through their offspring. --- Both stallions had sons chosen as Approved Studbook Stallions in Holland. Realizing that Holland has only 45 Approved Stallions for a total Fjord population of 14,000, then you know the calibre of horse we're talking about. CONFORMATION: Quasar is TALL, BIG BODIED, BIG BONED CORRECT! --- He moves 100% correctly. Travels straight! No deviation whatsoever. TEMPERAMENT: - Quasar has a beautiful temperament!!! He's been well handled, and is beautifully obedient and mannered. He's VERY EASY TO HANDLE. MOVEMENT: Absolutely correct movement. Suspenion Reach. * (Gjest x Holly-Solar) A PROVEN CROSS - BDF Quasar is a full brother to BDF John Arthur and BDF Magnum, both winners of the prestigious Versatility Award at Libby, stars in the Log Pulling Event, and Combined Driving winners. We will sell this very good young stallion only to a serious breeder. He is not cheap, but we will make a good deal for the right breeder. If we cannot find the right owner by November 1st, then Quasar will be gelded. We have long considered Quasar as a replacement for Gjest. However, Gjest is doing better than he has for years and is definitely not ready for replacement. Therefore, we've decided to stick to our original plan which was to retire ourselves from breeding when Gjest retired himself. Gjest is not ready yet, and so, we offer Quasar to another breeder. ~~ The following horse has been slower to develop than his brother, BDF Quasar. Although he's very well bred, beautiful, and a good mover, and comes from the cross that's produced some wonderful performance horses, I've not been entirely convinced he's got what it takes to be a breeding stallion. However, I'm often too critical of our horses, and this colt is maturing well. Therefore, we offer him for sale as a potential breeding stallion. BDF QUENTIN DURWARD - 1 1/2 yr. old stallion - (Gjest x Maryke - Hjerter-Knaeght daughter). This is another very good quality stud colt who is now just coming into his own. He's a full brother to BDF IDAR, the gelding in Los Angeles who's doing so well in dressage open competition. Also a full brother to BDF Miss Naveta, the elegant mare who's cleaning up in driving competition. Also full brother to the overall dressage winner at Woodstock, BDF Jubilee Canada. BLOODLINES; (Gjest x Maryke - Hjerter-Knaeght) A very interesting pedigree. The same bloodlines that produced FJELLWIN, the Gjest son chosen as an Approved Studbook Stallion in Holland. Gjest as sire, and Hjerter-Knaeght as maternal grandsire. CONFORMATION: TALL, big bodied, but not as big boned as Quasar. More elgant, a good mover. Very beautiful head and eyes. TEMPERAMENT: Superb temperament. Extremely easy going and mild mannered. MOVEMENT: Long, reaching stride. Very good mover. Quentin is available to a serious breeder only. If there is not a suitable breeder for these quality young stallions, they will be gelded. BOTH STALLIONS ARE WELL-BRED, WELL GROWN WELL HANDLED. Thank you for your consideration. If you are interested, please call or email for further information and videos. BDF RAN REINSTEIN - weanling stud colt (Gjest x Riena - Myrstein daughter) A very beautiful and correct stud colt of excellent pedigree. We imported Riena two years ago with eleven other fillies. We liked her so much, we kept her for our own. She's tall and an exceptional mover and superb driving horse. Her colt is VERY EASY TO HANDLE and a BEAUTIFUL MOVER! Excellent opportunity for breeder looking to breed athletic Fjords. Available only
