Fjords for sale:
This message is from: "ruth bushnell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We here at Bushwhacker Fjords are offering two prime Fjords who BOTH were 2nd place "Halter Class Weanlings" last year at the Libby Show; a filly and a gelding. Both of these yearlings have been well imprinted and much handled from birth on, both have been in harness and driven lightly, they are very well mannered. Bushwhacker's Swan is out of Quad-L's Seira and is by our stallion, A2Z Thorson (grandson of Gjest). NFHR registered. P.S.Steen is out of Morgan's Perth, and is by Trinity's Samstein, and he is Canadian registered. They are $ 3,500 each. We will also have a couple of weanlings for sale this summer and they are perfecto! Two of them are Dustin lineage + the Gjest line. We are situated in the NW corner of MT (35 miles west of the Libby show) and welcome drop ins.. we often give guests stagecoach rides!! Ruthie and Gene Bushnell http://www.libby.org/~bushnell

With this little snippet about Gjest could it be that you will start riding him now too? He does sound like a wonderful old man who is truly appreciated. It is good to hear of people truly appreciating their horses. Pamela Who must go out and ride and appreciate two of mine right now!
Re: GJEST - We couldn't believe our eyes!
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Arthur Rivoire) Hello Everybody from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia - Just had to share this . . . We're very lucky this year that two of our Interns from Germany are really great dressage riders. One of them, Susanne, who is light and very lovely, and unbelievably elegant in the saddle asked if she could possibly ride our stallion, GJEST. This was on Sunday, a day we don't do any work around here, just rest and relaxation. I told her, of course, she could ride him, but that nobody had ridden Gjest for many many years. He's been used consistently for driving, but no riding, except for maybe one or two trailrides in ten years or so. So Susanne started riding Gjest, and I showed up with my video camera about ten minutes later, and couldn't believe my eyes. There was Gjest, on the bit, beautifully rounded, and moving like a young horse in the peak of condition and training. Gjest is 24 years old. Halfway through her ride, I asked Susanne how he was going. Her comment was, "He's so big!", by which she meant his movement. Watching Susanne ride Gjest was a revelation to me. I learned what innate talent is. This old horse who's teeth are going, and who's back has dropped looked like a million dollar horse! He was collected. He showed power and very respectable lengthenings. He did more than very respectable lateral work. Fantastically big and supple half and side passes. He went over the cavellettis with huge bounces and suspenion. His shoulders and hip joints were churning freely. We truly couldn't believe our eyes. And for those who are perpetually discusing the cantering ability of Fjords. . . Gjest's canter was collected, forward, and terrifically balanced. This in the ring beside our barn which is rather gravelly, and on a sidehill. It is definitley not flat! But that didn't faze Gjest in the least. The tempo of his canter remained exactly the same going down the hill as going up. And remember, this horse hadn't been ridden in many years, only driven, and never cantered. To canter in that fasion in those conditons took innate balance, power, supplenss, and correct conformation. The canter was absolutely on the hocks. He was back where he should be, not in the least on the forehand. How could this horse do it without training and conditioning for saddle work? I can't tell you how astounded we are by his ability, and to do it at 24 years of age is almost unbelievable. When the ride was over, I again asked Susanne what she thought. She said, "Is it really true he hasn't been ridden in eight years? - He feels like a highly educated dressage horse." So that's what I learned watching this demonstration Sunday morning. The lesson was -- They either have it or they don't! Gjest has it!!! Of course, I've known this from the beginning, but sometimes you need a reminder. I got it Sunday morning. Bob van Bon has said many times that - "You could look for a lifetime and not find a stallion that moves like Gjest". Well, seeing was believing Sunday morning. After it was all over, Arthur and I said that we must chroncile this horse's abilities and accomplishments over the years in a professional video. Luckily, we have a small company in Antigonish that does videos, and that will be our winter project. I've never done a GJEST VIDEO, but only have snippets of him on dozens of miscelaneous videos. Hopefully, we can put them all together this winter. Bob van Bon has also said many times that "We can't find stallions like Gjest anymore anywhere. They just don't exist today." For this reason, I think it's important that nobody forgets what a really good Fjord stallion is all about. I hope Digest readers can see past our personal pride in this stallion, and appreciate his contribution and worth to the breed.
