But what are you going to ask them to stop? The messages can come from people you know, they can have different files attached & they can have different subjects. This one isn't an easy one to stop before it gets to you. You just have to be really careful & don't run the attachments if you were not expecting one from someone. You have to actually open & run the attachment before it will spread to your computer. Mike

Hi Curt, I believe most of the registered Fjords in Canada do not show up in the database because they are not American registered. You are correct. The only Canadian registered horses that will show up in the NFHR pedigree database will be those that are also registered with the NFHR. I can't keep track of the owners of horses that are not registered with the NFHR (it is hard enough keeping the ones that are registered up to date). For example, the data from NFHR indicated no Fjords in the province of Saskatchewan. However, The Canadian Livestock Registry shows 40 current members of the Fjord registry in Sasktachewan. A couple of these people have up to 20 Canadian registered Fjords. It is similar in other provinces, such as Manitoba and Ontario. Certainly true. The CFHA has over 2000 horses registered I believe. There are some who have been breeding Fjords in Canada for 20 years that have never registered them with the American registry. Some of their horses appear in the NFHR in the pedigrees of American registered horses. But they are often listed as "unknown" breeder or country. I have several friends who raise llamas and regularly correspond among themselves via email. Someone in this group unknowingly opened an attachment which contained this thing and it infected her computer and sent the message to everyone in her email address list. Now they all have let everyone they correspond with know NOT to open anything which states "I sent this to you for your advice" or words to that effect. Apparently you can't 'catch' it unless you open the attached file. So, do beware of things sent for your perusal/advice - even if it comes from someone you know. Check with them to see if they really DID send you something to look at before opening that file! Mary = Mary Thurman Raintree Farms [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: stubborness
This message is from: "sandra church" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Amen to posts about the fjords ability to handle unusual situations even if stubborness is part of the procedure. In the past 2 years of trail riding Loki, we've had 2 turkey vultures to burst out of the underbrush right under his nose and one leaping groundhog (which scurried down a tree then took a flying leap into the underbrush just as we approached) to startle us. Loki did turn around each time and take 1 or 2 strides then stop and decide that he had expended enough energy already so our ride continued quietly. None of my other horses would've stopped or have calmed down so quickly. Loki has also been in a wedding (carrying a "medieval bride") and been to church as a circuit riding horse. He can be a gem! My friends love for him to lead the trail rides because he is so calm and has a calming influence on their mounts.Sandra in Va. Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Blue Earth Evaluation
This message is from: Mike May <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The Evaluation went very well again this year. Hopefully the remaining 3 for the year will run as smoothly as Blue Earth's did. My thanks to all that helped to make it run so well. To name just a few - Tom Hans & Sophie Fiedler were the coordinators an had everything organized and planned out well ahead of time. They made the whole process look easy! Then we had the Sadlons, Hotovys, Falcks, Fiedlers, Monheims & Hans' crews all helping anywhere they could. I know there are more that I am missing or that did things in the background that I didn't even know about too. I am sorry if I forgot anyone. I do have to give a great big thanks to Nick. Nick is Mike & Suzie Sadlon's grandson and the best under 18 helper I have had at one of these events yet. Thank You Nick! So even with the 2 hour rain & thunderstorm delays each morning & the 90 plus temps in the afternoon we had a very good Evaluation. I won't try to give any results via the list but there were some very nice horses presented at the Evaluation. The quality is definitely improving every year. The results will be printed in the next Herald if I can put them together in time. Now I have to get working on Libby's Evaluation next. Mike
