Mycotoxins?
This message is from: ulli [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello, Mycotoxins are fungi that are found in cereal grains in moldy foods (aka: aflatoxin - produced by aspergillus vomitoxin, known as deoxynivalenol - DON, produced by Fusarium variety. When cereal grains are not fit for livestock consumption (because they contain mycotoxins), they are sold to the pet food companies where they actually allow it put into pet foods! They cause some very serious illness deaths in dogs cats farmers don't use the affected grains fruits for their livestock (that's why they end up in commercial pet foods). (which is why we only feed whole foods to our dogs: www.UrbanWolf.cc ) There is also myositis, which is different. What are you feeding your horse? Have you considered thyroid? If you email me privately, I know an holistic vet that now practices for small animals, but worked with horses, she may be able to do a telephone consult for you. Cheers! mane tail junk
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] while grooming oz i noticed that he has something like heavy flakes or almost scabs deep in the hair in his tail and forelock. i did notice him rubbing his tail on the barn yesterday. they showed up in his forelock right at the base of it in the center of his forehead. when i attempted to remove and comb it out, some of it was so thick that it bled. i didn't see any indication of ticks or bugs, at least not that i can tell. any ideas what it could be and what i can use on it? i put some tea tree oil on it for now.

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Jennie- I've never heard of a mycotoxin, but the folds of skin in her photos look like what happens to an obese person when they lose a lot of weight. You say Bonnie is on a diet -- is it possible she's shed more pounds than you are aware of? You can get an approximate weight by using a tape. As far as the other bumps, they could be cysts. Have you talked to the vet? / )_~ /L/L Brigid Wasson SF Bay Area, CA www.Brigid.Clickryder.com

But I didn't ride her today. But I did yesterday afternoon, and she seemed spunkier than normal, gave a few bucks when we cantered!
