Re: What are the odds
This message is from: Mariposa Farm [EMAIL PROTECTED] Congratulations Janet! I'll give Gromar's Rodrik a cigar :) For those of you who don't know, after Ron Davis Passed away last year we took Rodrik to our farm for Kit and we had the pleasure of meeting Janet's mare, Lisa for her breeding. Also, for those who are interested Rodrik is for sale. Anyone interested can give Kit Davis a call for price and information. Mark McGinley Mariposa Farm This message is from: Janet [EMAIL PROTECTED] Last July took both my mares FCF Gyda Engel and Sawtooth Mountain Anna Lisa to two different farms for breeding (Gyda went to Lee, and Lisa went to see Rodrick) . As it happened, both mares were bred on exactly the same days, to which I thought, gee, what a coincidence, but they went one step further and this morning both mares foaled at the same time, giving me two more fillies! Now what are the odds of such synchrony! Janet McNally
New Foals!
This message is from: Lori Albrough [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just wanted to share our birth announcements this year Felix had a new daughter and a new son born here at Bluebird Lane! All went well and the mommas and little ones are doing great! Raldiene, who is by Prisco's sire, Halstor, had a fantastic little filly who has just captured my heart. This filly is so typey and so charming, I just love everything about her. Her name is Ibis (EYE-biss) and when I call her, even if she is way out in pasture, she throws up her head and answers mee-he-he-heee then comes to greet me. Cindy (Ostar) at 23 years of age had a super athletic little colt, his name is Koel, and the moves on him are so entertaining, sometimes he scarcely touches the ground. He keeps his mom busy, that is for sure. I guess that is nature's way of getting the figure back in a hurry. Our foal watch system, consisting of an infrared camera which I can rotate by remote control, infrared spotlight so it all works in the pitch dark, microwave receiver and transmitter (no cables from barn to house) and monitor in our bedroom - the whole system constructed by my electronics hobbyist husband Stefan - worked perfectly again this year, and I was present for both births. Raldiene foaled at 3:30 am on the first night of watching her, I woke at 3:20 and saw her circle and lay down, her tail was twitching in that way it does. We sprinted out there and attended the birth of wonderful Ibis. Cindy I had been watching every hour through the night for two nights and she was acting totally casual, although the signs from her udder said it was time. I put her out on grass Friday morning and started cleaning her stall when I got a funny feeling and looked out the window in time to see her lay down and the water break. So she foaled outside, which was quite lovely with the grass, dandelions, sun and breeze. I sat behind her, and when she sat up in between contractions to have a bite of grass, I moved his feet to remind her to concentrate and get this baby born. Other than that, she really didn't need my help, but I feel I owe it to my mares to make every effort to be there for them. At any rate, I sure didn't need to worry that Cindy was too old :-) This is Cindy's 9th foal and she looks so great, is totally sound, and before getting big in foal was being ridden 6 days per week. You can see photos of our new arrivals on our web site at http://bluebirdlane.com/arrivals.html Also, I have one horse left on my sales list, a super gelding sired by Flotren, he is five years old and grey in colour. This horse has a SOLID temperament and wonderful gaits, with an especially good canter. I have owned him since he was a yearling and he has been brought along by me in dressage training. He has a great attitude to work, he loves it. He's entered for his first open dressage show next weekend, I can't wait! This is a great horse for a timid rider as he is so steady, and for anyone interested in riding dressage because he is well trained and such a nice mover. Our National FEI Pony Dressage Coach said Valebu is one Fjord that truly moves like a dressage horse. Check him out if interested! http://bluebirdlane.com/saleslist.html Lori Lori Albrough Bluebird Lane Fjords Moorefield Ontario http://www.bluebirdlane.com

Wanted: Fjord-Broke to ride
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Everyone, I am on the search for another Fjord to keep my Marla company. I am only interested in a Fjord that is well broke to ride as I have 4 kids. The horse must be good with kids, very willing and reasonably priced. The most important thing to me is safety for my kids. If anyone knows of a Fjord that will fit this category and is willing to part to a great new home. Please let me know. Thanks, Jackie in warm and humid Wisconsin.
Prisco will be at Finger Lakes!!
This message is from: Lori Albrough [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi everyone, Just a heads up to let everyone know that Prisco will be at the Finger Lakes Fjord Show this year, July 30-31! I have accepted an invitation from the show committee to do a Fjord dressage demo, so I will be bringing Prisco to the show. For everyone who has asked about him, now is your chance to come see him and visit him! Prisco will be performing a program of 2nd and 3rd Level movements set to disco music. If you missed Prisco performing at the Ontario Fjord Show with my coach Ute Busse riding, now is your chance to see him, this time with his mom (me :-) in the pilot's seat. I hope everyone is coming to Finger Lakes! The wonderful people on the show committee know how to put on a great show and it is a great time to connect with Fjord friends. Hope to see you there. Lori
The Pines Dokka
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This message is from: Gina Larson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello List-- The last chance I had to see real live fjords was at the Midwest horse fair (I absolutely fell in love with The Pines Dokka--darn, where's a winning lottery ticket when you need one!) Gina, Thank you for the compliment on The Pines Dokka. As a fellow lurker, I never missed a digest. We have owned Dokka since she was a 5 months old. We brought her and her half sister The Pines Dana from Jeane and Dennis Downing. (They are wonderful people.) They were our first fjords and as others have said Fjords are like potato chips, you can't have just one we now have 11. In October we brought Downing's stallion - Fair Acres Sven II (Steinfinn, Grabb, Hosar). Since we cannot breed Dokka or Dana to him, we have those two, plus 3 others for sale. For anyone interested you can find more information on them at www.lazyvalleyranch.com, 2 of the horses for sale are not shown on the website yet, they are Fair Acres Earling, who is 4 years old and will be started later this summer. Also is our new arrival LVR Karl (name and registration pending) Wood's Kandi X Fair Acres Sven II. Karl is a month old now and can smile on cue, he has a great personality. Hope to see many of you at Blue Earth this year!!! This year's show looks to be great, we have been attending for the last 3 years and participating the last 2 years and have had a wonderful time. A good place to see many super fjords and meet many wonderful people. Sincerely, Dawn Schlickman Lazy Valley Ranch Chana, Illinois Where the rain keeps missing us..
Aug Horse Illustrated
This message is from: Gina Larson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello List-- I have been lurking for quite some time, but rarely miss a digest. The last chance I had to see real live fjords was at the Midwest horse fair (I absolutely fell in love with The Pines Dokka--darn, where's a winning lottery ticket when you need one!) Even though my Chester is not a fjord, I wanted to let everyone know that we were selected to be in the August issue of Horse Illustrated for the HI Profile. So check us out! I know that at one time I wanted to sell Chester (and buy a fjord!) but I am so glad I stuck with it. It took two years, but we have developed a tremendous bond. i moved him to a new farm two months ago where he has blossomed. Because it is so much closer I am able to see and work with him just about every day. We have full access to 2 outdoor arenas, a round pen, and a gorgeous and huge indoor arena. There is a talented trainer there, and an abundance of 4-Hers to help me out too! The horses there (mostly draft crosses) are also laid back and I think that has helped Chester too (no more high strung tb's). I have to work full time to afford my horse, but he sure gives me a reason to get through each work day! I hope all are happy and well and enjoying your horses. I'm so happy summer is finally here in Wisconsin! Gina Larson Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
