It seems you and WIlli are over the hump - yay! Is there any way to
maybe hide the Bio-sponge in some applesauce? When I've had to use
nasty tasting drugs w/Cass the applesauce has been the trick w/just a
touch of yogurt. Last Dec. she was on 2 different kinds of
antibiotics for a month for mastitis. Her tummy stayed good despite
it all.

Question: we are on SMZs, 12 twice a day. The Vet whose house Willi
is staying at says the surgeon put us on the gold standard of
diarrea prevention, Bio Sponge twice a day and Probios once a day.
So far no troubles. Willi does not like the Bio Sponge at all. Has
anyone used a similiar product that may be more palatable?

 Thanks!

Kathy,

You might try Orange Sugar Free Metamucil or the cheaper version Equate from
Walmart. 1/4 th cup twice per day mixed dry in his food and provide plenty
of fresh water for drinking. The vet recommended this to us for sand
removal (we have very sandy soil and give to all our fjords for the 1st 7
days each month) and to one that sometimes has a messy butt. I can tell you
it works, they really love it, and he will have a messy orange mustache from
what sticks on his face. Watch out for unsolicited pony kisses. But since
it is sugar free it doesn't attract bugs either.

Glad he is doing well,

Hi all. Willi is doing very well! The hole in his hoof is all pink and
filling in. The bandage changes are getting easier, although I think it will
be quite some time before I can do it by myself.

Tjeeva and Silivnna

2010-10-01 Thread Linda Syverson Kerr
This message is from: Linda Syverson Kerr syversonsfjordl...@yahoo.com

This email is written and sent from James Kerr, Husband to Linda Syverson
Kerr...with email syveronsfjordl...@gmail.com

My wife, Linda, Sue Plein friend and trainer, accompanied Linda and her two
Fjords Tjeeva and Silliviann, to Holmen High School. This is Linda's 8th or
9th
year. The first class kids leaned about basic handling, horsemanship, grooming,
horsemanship..the Fjords lead wonderful and followed the kids around. I the
second class it was an advanced class to where they broke into three groups.
They had english and western saddles and then then showed them to harness.
They
moved on to feeding, type/weight/quality and why.

The horses stood perfectly still, while the marching band patricide outside,
both showed alertness, but where not afraid,. In the class room, the horses
were in the 10x10 pen there were about 10 kids around each horse. Sue Plein
handled Sillviann, to assist due to my wife's injury, both Sue answered many
questions and when different saddle were put on the horses, sat in each saddle
while wearing a helmet.. Both horses lived up to the Fjords reputation. Quite,
clam, and didn't blow...

Best was the last class, the Special Education3 children came in..one young
lady had been there before, but was not as active as she had been today, she
was
grinning ear to ear..Silliviann had a young girl that kept wanting to feed her
hay, and another young man, who stood quite, while grinding his teeth, but
stopped long enough to enjoy and touch the horse nose.

I am proud of my wife, while not feeling 100% due to the accident, she did
wonderful.how could she not she had wonderful help of Sue Peiln who blindly
agree to come to school Lets not forget these Horses. Tjeeva (1x veteran) and
Silliviann, who never had done this before.

I am expeciously proud and grateful to my wife, that after her accident she
would be so willing to share her story of how she was hurt. While she may not
be yet a 100%, she is quick on the feet,. Sue Plein was the same way and a
wonderful addition to the Holmen High School Children's learning experience.
In
my humble opinion these to ladies did a WONDERFUL, HEARTFELT presentation.

I always volunteer my wife for this, she does not complain, I hope that the
Syverson/Plein team will come back to Holmen High School, as they did a
WONDERFUL job.I know that the students and the Teacher there would
appreciate them coming back.

One thing that I found interestingthat the excitement on the Special Ed
children faces when the horses breathed on them, or stretched their hands out
to
pet. THIS WAS TRULLY PRICELESS.
