5 yr old gelding for sale - trained to ride and drive
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just wanted to check and see if anyone might be interested in Chocko before I finalize arrangements for his trip back home to Florida. He is currently at Pat Holland's in Illinois. He has filled out quite a bit since Blue Earth - obviously Pat's TLC agrees with him! Please get in touch with Pat or me quickly if you might be interested. I'm getting ready to place a deposit for his transportation - and with gas prices soaring I'll need a winning lottery ticket to get him home!!! hurricane charlie
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] my computer isn't recognizing the shift key - a post-traumatic hurricane syndrome i'm sure. we were without power for 3 full days. i'm over hurricanes and ready to move to the frozen north again where firewood and a woodstove can reasonably avert a crisis. we went out friday night to discover that we had a tree down taking out a critical section of fence. after the 80 mile/hr winds that we endured - at best guess - since they were clocked that high after it passed through - we had to do fence repair from midnight to 1 am. the horses were freaked out and when we went out in daylight on saturday morning we understood why. the fence had actually been hit in 3 locations and the pasture area of about 1-1 1/2 acres had at leat 7 large pines uprooted and an oak snapped off. there were a number of trees in addition to those didn't hit the ground, but are hung up in other trees. in short, it is a mess. i know there are fjord people in geneva, florida, and i believe they may be in even worse shape. i am happy that chocko is in illinois with pat. our arab mare surely would have warped his psyche since she was sure that the world was coming to an end. any other hurricane charlie reports?? vicki johnston mims, florida p.s. i am looking forward to sending my resume to more sensible climates. contacts welcomed. :-)
Insurance links
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.hallmarkhorse.com/ http://www.equispec.com/ http://www.agririsk.com/ I am currently with Hallmark. I have a Fjord friend that was with Agri-Risk, but I'm not sure she was happy with them and was looking elsewhere last time I checked. Vicki Johnston Mims, Florida
Fjord sits like a dog
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yes, Chocko also has been caught sitting like a dog. I washed him one evening and put him in the paddock to finish drying so he wouldn't roll, and I came out of the horse later to finding him sitting in the paddock like a dog giving himself a big dirty spot on his butt!!! Fattening feed
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Given that my little Fjord gains weight looking over the fence at grass, I can't imagine him ever needing a fattening diet. But, when I first got my Bashkir Curly, he needed some pounds. I fed him a plain oat and barley mix (which isn't available in the south) and he did wonderfully on it. Vicki Johnston Mims, Florida
White hooves
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] The best farrier that I've ever had (in Montana) told me that the black hooves were tougher. He used to tell his apprentices that my Bashkir Curly had the closest to perfect hooves that they would ever see. Now, in sandy Florida, that Curly has brittle hooves. I have an Arab with white hooves that has splits that I can't cure. I have another Arab that has some white in her hooves and they have always stayed in great condition. And of course, my Fjord has no problems. So, all I can conclude is that I'd rather be in Montana!! ;-) Vicki Johnston Mims, Florida
Vivian's Carriage
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cheryl, Actually, Vivian did not wreck her carriage. It was a malfunction and it came apart during a practice. Vicki Johnston Mims, Florida
I saw Vivian today at Live Oak!!
This message is from: Vicki and Tony Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just got home from the Live Oak CDE Marathon today and pulled up today's scores on the Live Oak web site. Vivian came in first!!! It was very exciting. My husband and I raced to every obstacle and were able to see her at every one. I hopefully have some good digital pics. My hubbie is checking those out now. We had a great day. Her Fjord is awesome!!! You could tell that she has a big heart and Vivian is so in tune with her. Those two could do anything!!! I wish everyone could have been there to see it with us. It was a great day! Vicki Johnston :-)) Mims, Florida
