harness for sale
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. Maybe, someday, Steve will act on my request to send the list to my own e-mail addressbut until then I have leather harness for sale. Came with the mares that went thru the auction last weekend. It is russet, 23 hames, 16'long 1 lines that are still stiff. New 3 yr ago. Some chew marks from the ground squirel that took residence in the shop until he ate the poison. But I digress, comes with headstalls with blinders. You pay shipping it's yours for $1300. Chew marks can be sanded off did not weaken the harness in any way. Also have 21 collars for $200. You pay shipping. It is heel chain style. Hope, I don't have your address, but I apologize to you for dissing you on the list. I now understand why you requested your refund for T-shirts on the list as Steve appears to have 1 way e-mail. You can contact him but he does not respond, Sorry Steve, I call it as I see it. For those of you that were at Hermiston 0600 Sun, thanks for bidding. For whomever it was I talked to about the horses while I harnessed them your welcome for all the info. Next time it will cost you $35/hr for consulting fee as you walked away when you had what you needed. My parents taught me to say thank you, guess yours didn't. I have another mare for sale but different story from the mares that went thru the auction. This one knows the drill probably knows more than you do. So if you need a mare that will teach you , your horses to be horses work for you, contact me. [EMAIL PROTECTED] For those of you that have issues about how I come across, adjust - you have a delete button. Bye, have a nice day. mare for sale
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. C-1404, Stillmeadows Lovisa. Heavy boned brown dun, 2 colts on the ground, Brass Ring's Jord, infamous author of Life on the Ground,(who says hi to all of you), Brass Ring's Baar, who will replace his sire, Trygve, C-1389, who had brain surgery is hanging out in Southern OR now. Anyway, back to Honey. She trains the colts for me but I run the gang together, including Baar, who still has his learning disability. This will get him in trouble with Honey this spring. So, Honey needs a new home. This is an excellent mare for those of you who are needing an experienced horse to teach you your horses. She is an excellent mother the best in the working string. She is open. Delivery is an option at $1/loaded mile. That's what it takes to run the pig truck trailer. I want to thank all of you for not being interested in buying Jord or Baar when I was wanting to sell them, looks like they will be a well matched team. Your loss, my gain. They understand that I'm the human being, not the dope on the rope, they are the horses. Jord will be in the plow hitch next spring. Baar will be busy being two yrs old, longing for big brother Jord who will be at work with the big boys. fjords at auction
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. Looks like the mares stud colt I've been trying to sell for a friend will go through the Hermiston, OR auction this Sat. The yard is located at exit 180 on I-84 in Oregon. Coggins health certificates are in order. Knock yourself out. The colt IS NOT stallion quality but the flies just quit this week I will not cut him now as he will be somewhere else this time next week. The mares, Blaken Marikka, are NFHR registered but will go through as unregistered because the original papers are lost won't be replaced in time for the auction. The colt isn't registered yet. If you just can't stand to see them go through the auction make us an offer we can't refuse. Because we have all slept since the last time I posted about these horses they are good on farm machinery wagons. Have been worked 4 abreast they have been ridden some but not under saddle. They wear 21 collars but Blakken needs a pad under her's. They are heavy boned brown duns. Both are open. Bye Joel Harman Surf the web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! Re: weight pull log skid
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. Gandolf is the gelding C-1390. He'll beswitching gears next week for the Pendleton Round-Up parade, something I've been trying to recruit fjords to for 10 yr now. Novel concept here - one gets PAID for bringing a team to this parade. One pulls a wagon or whatever owned by the Round-Up assoc. Geir will be there as well as Honey, that world renowned author of Life on the Ground, Jord. Jord will hold up the other end of the tongue for Mom, C-1404, Who is looking for a new home. Alas, Jord has had a change of heart graciously decided to stay here at the ranch to replace Mom in the working string. Little brother Baar has also decided to stay but only if I get him a new sweetie for next year. Mom out, sweetie in. So goes the life of the punks at the ranch. Since Baar is coming 2 still basically useless he will continue to be a full fledged punk next year unless he gets lucky with Mom's replacement. OregonStateFair
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This from Joel Harman. Just got back from the state fair draft horse weight pull log skid. Pulled a 1080# gelding in the light horse division which went up to 1300#. Won the class with a 2400# pull. Could have pulled more but that was what it took to win the class. This horse pulled 2850# a few yrs ago when he weighed 960#. I didn't do team pull because cut off was 3200# my other gelding only goes 925# so would have given away 1200#. Won the team log skid at 1 min 5 sec. No faults. 2nd was 1 min 46 sec. Halflingers had lots of classes there for halflingers so good exposure for them. -- For sale consigned mares 9 10. Heavy boned. Blaken Marika. NFHR, 21 collars. Brown dun. Harness available with them. Been driven worked on mower, rake, disc, plow, harrows, oddly enough pulling pipe for an irrigation project. Marika has 2 colts on the ground is open. Weanling colt from C-1389 out of Marika. Basically useless but loads does fine with feet. Currently hanging out with his 1/2 brothers, Brass Ring's Jord(author of Life On the Ground series), Brass Ring's Baar. The colt had kind of a rocky start when he got here as Baar took it upon himself to chase the colt around the corral until both of their thingys were dragging. Jord just kind of sat back watched. It was hot that day. They are best of buds now. I think he need to be cut but who knows about weanlings? Also for sale out of my working string - C-1404, Stillmeadow's Lovisa. 7 yr, heavy boned, brown dun mare. 21collar. Lots of farming logging experience as well as parades. Excellent work ethic. Has been riden but needs more work there as I don't ride much anymore. Open, but proven (Jord Baar). electric fencing
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. ALL horses need to be educated when being introduced to electric fencing. Put the horse on the other side of the fence from the human. offer some treat to the horse so that by reaching for the treat the horse will come into contact with the fence. IF your horse has enough respect for you that it will not go through you to get away from the shock then it will back up or go sideways to escape. Seems that horses can sense when they are near an electric fence that is charged. Best if the horse gets it's first shock on the nose. No hair to absorb the shock. Re:President's message in the Herald
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman. I do not get the fjord nor do I belong to the NFHR. That is another story not germane to this topic. I have had fjords since 1988. I have bred raised them since 1990. During that time I have seen fads come go. Making them taller seems to take up lots of folk's time. Working on putting more slope in that upright shoulder is another. Breeding for color? It is unfortunate that some are going to follow the money breed whatever is selling at the time. Hopefully folks will see that this is a poll - not gospel. While on the subject of what is good for the breed it really bothers me to hear folks say they are born broke. NO equine is born broke. All need training, hopefully by someone that knows what they are doing. Granted, often it is the human that needs training. Thank you for listening. Life on the Ground
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Forwarded Message -- This is from Jord. Hi folks. Jord here. Long time no see. Hasn't been much to write about lately so, I haven't - written, that is. Anyway, just wanted you to know the gang I took a vote decided some of us would like to greet the New Year somewhere else. To put it bluntly, we want to be sold. Why? Because, that's why. We like it here but there is a whole world out there waiting for us to explore. Now I know how all you folks deplore using numbers so I'll use names. There's me, Jord, Baar, my little brother( who doesn't have a number yet), Trygve, Ivory. We keep our roots in Canada, so you have to look there for the paperwork. Oh yeah, some of the details. Baar is the baby. Thinks he is a real stud because he hasn't had the CHANGE like I have. It really wasn't bad, you know. He gets in the trailer fine, yesterday the human trimmed his feet but forgot to tie him up. Well, Baar just stood there took it like a man. The human trimmed my feet too. Didn't tie me up either. Ha, I left after the first foot was done. BAD mistake!. The human let me know too - spanked my butt pointed to the platform. So I looked at him said Oh you want me up there. OK. So I went back up on the platform. It's logs you know, kind of hollow sounding. The noise scared me at first, kind of like going over a bridge. But that was a long time ago. it doesn't scare me now. So, I stood there got the rest of my feet trimmed. I didn't make him tie me. I knew what the human wanted the first time but hey I'm a kid, have to try, you know. Anyway, I go in the trailer alone too. Don't bother tieing me, I'd rather be loose. All ! of us prefer it. I do fine in hobbles on picket. I'll go around in a round pen for you, if you want. So will my brother. Ivory has been hooked a few times. She will go around the pen for you too. Loads, good with feet, yada, yada, yada. Trygve will do pretty much what you ask him to do. He's good with kids too. Both human 4 footed. Anyway, we would like to go somewhere else for the Holidays beyond. Write if you're interested. Don't be shy. We are all pretty wooly right now. Don't be shy. Bye Jord U U U U Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Visit www.juno.com
training - the rest of the story
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is from Joel Harman So the trainer falls then asks the horse to stop so she will not get drug(dragged?) Horse does not stop. flight response took over. Horse gets worked more. Does the horse learn to stop when the trainer asks it to? Did the lesson end when the horse stopped when asked? Whoa means stop moving foward when the human asks - no matter what is going on behind the horse - no matter what the horse wants to do. Whoa means stop moving foward - now.
