Re: More on manes
This message is from: "william poe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have not found mares manes any different from stallions. What I use on my fjords manes is Show Sheen. Spray them before you trim, and when you groom. Also, I use a wire pad, I think it's for sheep. It's about 3" x 4" with about a hundred wires sticking out about 3/8" long. It also works great on tails. The next day after trimming a mane, there are always a bunch of individual long hairs sticking up. This is normal, I don't think you can trim without some of those little devils hiding. Bill
How to add a Link icon to your mail!
This message is from: "william poe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I don't know if this is the easiest why but this is the way I did it. I have windows 95 and Explorer. I first go to the web site I want to make a link of, then at the top of the screen is the mail Icon. I pick this icon, and I'm given a choice to create a link. when you pick this option an email window appears with the link in the Subject: space. If you go ahead and type the message out and send it ,it has an attachment as my first message had last night. The way I did the second message was-- When the link appeared in the Subject: space I cut it, then closed out the email window as though I had changed my mind about sending the message. Then I sent a new message as normal, When I wanted to put the Link in I simply Pasted. I hope this makes sense. Bill

Hey gang, This is where I'll be tomorrow. Going to catch two clinics by John Lyons. Pick the link and look around. This is held in columbus every year. Looks like they are going to hold it in Mass. in the fall. I better get to bed I'll have an early start tomorrow Bill
John Lyons
This message is from: "william poe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I am a fan of John Lyons also. Fact is I will see him tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio. I have attended four of his seminars, I actually saw John get bucked off a morgan during one of his seminars. That was a sight! I use his training technques for the most part. I have not found it necessary to use the round pen reasoning with Fjords. John would tell you, not to chase a house around in a round pen unless you have too. John told me, if you can safely get on a horse's back, then that is where you start. John also tought me the ONLY time you get right down violent with a horse is when they kick or bite at you. At this time the horse should believe the world is coming to an end. But it must be all in the first three seconds after the kick or bite.( and this includes foals). I have found this to work well. You only have to do it once. As far as moving a Fjord away from me and making him give me space, I teach mine to move their feet when I cluck. My hands tell them which way to move. If I want them to move away I hold my hands out to the side (like I'm going to hug them.) If I want him to come to me I hold out only one hand in front of me. If I am in the stall with the horse and want him to move over I cluck and touch him on his side or on the side of his rump, if I'm behind him. Nothing beats good ground training. Best Regards Bill
Julie

This message is from: "william poe" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cynthia, Nice to hear from you. We are not sure if we will be coming to Blue Earth this year. I don't know if you knew, but we lost our grey stallion, Viking. We had leased him out to the Hotovy's last spring, and just before we were to get him back he got sick. Nancy found him in the morning. That night their vet called asking permission to put him down. The Univisity of Michigan did a post on him. They came up with no reason for his death. You can't believe how hard that has been on me. He was only six years old. We do have a grey colt out of him that will be one year old in May. Man does he ever look like Viking. When I see him out in the pasture I think it's Viking I'm seeing. Then I remember. It's so sad! Type back Bill
