And I bought my best "handicapped" horse from Ginny! Wonder if it's something in the training? Just for those of you who don't know, I bought Juniper for myself. My son had a little pinto horse that was working out alright for him. Not great, but acceptably. We bought Juniper, took her home. My son picked up a brush and started brushing her. He is a child with autism, and doesn't always "relate" to his surroundings and had NEVER made a first step towards a horse before. So I gulped. Sold his little pinto mare to a lady who starts beginners on her and gave Juniper to Raymond. I still get to ride her, to keep her tuned up, but she's his horse. He knows it, she knows it. And she's the best horse in the barn. This boy may have autism, but he's got great taste. Pamela

I can't believe my eyes when I read his name and now after this comment, I know it's the one and only Los Trigos Jiminy who is sired by the world renowned stallion SOLAR!! and out of the Norwegian mare Simona and was bred by AI with shipped live cooled semen in 1990 by Ginny Cowles. When I find my offspring folder I will fill you in with more details. I remember Simona was older, over 20, when she took to Solar and produced Jiminy in 1991. That same year we tried embryo transfer with Solar and three OLD gorgeous Norwegian imported monuments, I mean mares! While the transfers were successfully completed, the process never completed itself, and we didn't try again. I got to see Jiminy and Simona in person when I was the NFHR representative (TD) at the Dutch Keuring held at Los Trigos Ranch in 1992. Jiminy was in with the other yearlings and youngstock and was a standout in quality and temperment even as a yearling! And they had some really nice Fjords in their herd! He should have been registered with the NFHR and His papers should be with the current owner. Hope that is the case, wonder why so many questions? I am pleased to hear he is well taken care of and has had the benefit of training. He is one of four Solar son's working professionally as a "special needs" horse. There was another gelding mentioned on the list named Harold who is also a product of AI from Solar and a mare named Kristi. It sounded like he also landed right and is a good citizen. Thanks for posting about Jiminy and Hey, maybe this could start off a round of posts about AI or Handicapped ridding Fjords! P.S. Simona and Los Trigos Jiminy were featured in the Foal announcement page of the Herald that Spring he was sprung!! (later I'll post the issue and page # for all of you that save the Heralds!)
