Hi Everyone,

After being without internet access for over two weeks it has caused me to
reflect rather than react immediately with the results of the Blue Earth
show.

We once again had a really good show - 103 horses, of all caliber, old
timers back, new comers, horses at their first show, seasoned horses showing
the Fjord tenacity to work their hearts out for us over and over again and
all pulled off without incident or injury.

First I need to thank my committee and all the volunteers, whom without them
the show would not be as special as it is.
Jessica Katzman did an outstanding job designing the four trail classes,
setting it up and managing the division. She put allot of thought and time
in the course and the obstacles were challenging but doable. THANK YOU
Jessica and your volunteers for a great job.

Andrew Hinrichs also did a great job designing and implementing the three
driving cones classes. He and his crew put together a great division, he was
organized and prepared. THANK YOU Andrew and your volunteers as well.

Rich Hotovy and his crew once again took charge of the draft division.
There is nothing more comforting to me as the show manager - to see Rich
overseeing this discipline, for I always know his experience will guarantee
safety and correctness. THANK YOU Rich and your crew.

So many people give of their time to make the Blue Earth show work it is
extremely difficult to name them all. The Ring Stewards, gate people, ribbon
people, office staff and runners,...THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of you.

It's the little things that to me make a show successful:

Things like:

Seeing Ann Longfellow with a constant grin on her face for having a good
show with her new Fjord.

Seeing Bob Gudknecht and his family work as they do so well together, God
love them what a great family.

Seeing Jan Ethington deservingly win the Versatility Award, after so many
supportive years of coming to Blue Earth, and doing such a beautiful job.

Seeing both our Midwest Fjord Horse Club President, Chuck Kelly and Vice
President Susie Sadlon working so hard in the ring as stewards.

Seeing the office staff (thank you Mary Ofjord, Kathy Monroe and Shirley
Johnson) work out class changes and keeping things organized.

Seeing my husband relax and forget about work at home and enter 16 classes
and bring home 15 ribbons.

Seeing Patti Jo Walter with God only knows how many horses, switching
riders, horses, tack, classes - the girl must put on a thousand miles on at
one show.

Seeing my husband win the Log Skid with Hostar against the BIG boys
(Gudknecht, Hotovy, Sadlon Schlickman) that STILL is his proudest moment.

Seeing Philis Anderson's grandson Gunner so intent in the combination trail
class and working so hard throughout the show for his Grandmother.

Seeing Kit Davis's great gelding Flick take care of his person again and
again. And seeing Kit continue to join us and be a part of our show, thank
you Kit.

Seeing the costume class - which this year was absolutely the best with
skits reflecting our inner circle membership.

Seeing exhibitors be able to sit and relax, go to the Fair for a bit and
still compete.

Seeing the new class - the Farmers Race - brought to my attention by Tyler
Schlickman - what a GREAT class...thank you Tyler.

Seeing Rich Hotovy without a shirt on for the Farmers Race (the man is ALL
muscle...) and Nancy driving their pair.

Seeing Cheryl Giola throw bales ( you go girl) in the Farmers Race with her
husband Steve driving.

Seeing the groups gather after the show to sit, laugh, eat, drink and just
enjoy our friendships.

Seeing a demonstration of the Farmers Race - by using Rich and Tyler as the
horses and Nancy driving them.

Seeing Tyler cook while the rest of us sat around.

Seeing Earl.

And lastly for me, personally being able to present the great old stallion
Hostar for Melinda Springs who drove from Idaho to see him. What a great
horse, owner and time of my life. Thank you.

With gratitude and respect to all of you who supported our 21st year at Blue
Earth-

A toast to friendship, horsemanship and the best show in North America.
THANK YOU
Pat Holland

Hi All,
The Blue Earth show is July 24, 25, 25. Most of the work is done for
this year...thanks to my committee, Rich and Nancy Hotovy,(draft) Jessica
Katzman (trail) and Andrew Hinrichs (driving), Patti Jo Walter
(undersaddle), Susie Sadlon.(trophies), and Martha and Guy Martin
(hospitality).

We will be meeting at the MWFHC Winter meeting to finalize a few things then
I will have a tentative show bill to hand out at the general meeting.

I have tweaked our class description list to be in compliance with the newly
formed NFHR set of show rules, but you will see your familiar Blue Earth
Show is keeping with the standard we've set and successfully run for 20
years.

Jim Havelhurst has been hired to judge and once again I will be asking for
volunteers for ring steward and gate people as well as three safety
delegates.

Thank you to all whom made last years Blue Earth show such a success. Issues
brought up regarding last years show have been worked out and your show
committe has once again been working hard through out the winter to provide
all of you another great venue to show your Fjords and enjoy the show that
dovetails with the Fjord saying -little horse with a big heart. well
we've outgrown the little but our hearts are in the right place.

See you in Winona in a few weeks.
